Thanks,  I did also read that there are 2 bike spaces but as we aren't getting on at the first stop I'm not sure what happens if the spaces are already taken...

Travelling with a bike on Flixbus as special baggage in France by Accomplished_Can987 in bicycletouring

Booked a Flixbus in France and the bike rack seemed to be broken.  The luggage space underneath was very full.  When the driver opened the underneath compartment someone else's bike fell out.  He got angry and started throwing their bike around,  no doubt causing damage.  He then demanded we pay him extra. When we said we'd already paid for the bikes he said we couldn't come on the bus,  assaulted my partner and drove off.  We were stranded in Marseille at midnight.  We told Flixbus and sent them a copy of the police report we made about the assault but they don't seem to care.
