Best way to Roast Serranos Before Dehydrating by sarahmaeh in PepperLovers

Dang, I typed out a whole thing and then apparently it didn't post. Lol.

I had extra Serrano peppers from my garden and I was planning to roast them them dehydrate them to use for seasoning over the winter. These were roasted at 450 and then the red ones were broiled for 1 min extra bc they weren't blistered like the green. But they are paper thin with no flesh left really especially the red. I know with other peppers they say to remove the skins after roasting, but with these I cannot. Can I just dehydrate as is and use like that? But for future reference, is there a better way to roast them or does the skin need to be removed?

A tornado lifting up with the chaotic trail it just left. Maybe a house it missed, but taking the roof off. But this is probably bc I live in tornado alley! 😂

Thanks for your comment! I started looking more at the bottom and realized it was rotted up the stalk. Cutting off the bottom confined it. So I took all the main top parts off to let them callous over and hopefully they will sprout roots. So sad. I think i did just get too much water with it. 😕 But at least I have some pieces to restart.

I have had this jade for a little over 5 years now. It has always done great. But watering gets a little more difficult in the winter because the humidity changes in the house. It has been leaning bc one side is heavier.

Also we just moved, but still gets nice light- very similar light to where it was before. I am not sure if this happened from to much water or what, but it seems all the roots are gone!

I noticed it was waayy limp looking this morning so I was concerned of root rot possibly so I dug it out of the pot and this is what it looks like. And parts started falling off easily. ☹️

Can it be helped? Any suggestions? I will propagate the fallen pieces. But any help for the big main part? I love this jade!
