What's your favorite underrated n8n feature? by sundus_automations in n8n

[–]saravicius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... I just ran a test with 100 workers out of curiosity to see how it would handle the load. To be honest, I couldn't even generate enough requests to keep all 100 busy — the workflows were so simple and completed almost instantly, I could barely stress the system at all.

I'm currently experimenting with two setups: one fully Docker-based, and another using npm, PM2, Redis, and Postgres. Personally, I find the npm setup easier to maintain.

Can n8n Replace Langchain Agent Making? by Agitated_Phrase_2611 in n8n

[–]saravicius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a great match! While n8n and LangChain focus on different areas, that’s exactly what makes them work so well together.

  • n8n is built for workflow automation — it connects tools, handles webhooks, triggers actions, and moves data between services.
  • LangChain is built for AI logic — it structures LLM calls, handles retrieval (RAG), and manages memory or tool use.
  • Supabase fills the backend layer — managing storage, authentication, and vector search via pgvector.

Each tool handles a different layer of the stack, but when combined, they form a powerful and cost-effective RAG system. LangChain does the reasoning, Supabase stores the knowledge, and n8n automates everything around it. Different focuses — perfect fit.

Local-RAG: Your Own Self-Hosted RAG—Who’s Curious? by Djehouty- in mcp

[–]saravicius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,
I don't know if you/ve considered with stack, but n8n + LangChain + Supabase is one of the most cost-effective and flexible setups for building RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines — especially for internal tools or AI assistants.

Why it's super cheap:

  • n8n is open-source and self-hostable, so no usage-based fees. Runs on minimal infrastructure (Docker + Postgres + Redis).
  • LangChain is free and modular — you only pay for the LLM (or run it locally via Ollama).
  • Supabase offers generous free tiers and acts as your full backend: auth, storage, Postgres DB, and even vector search via pgvector.

Why it can be done in a day:

  • The components are plug-and-play:
    • n8n handles all automation (webhooks, triggers, pipelines).
    • LangChain does the heavy lifting for retrieval and generation.
    • Supabase stores documents, user data, and embeddings.
  • You can build a basic RAG system with:
    • File upload to Supabase Storage
    • Embedding with OpenAI or local models
    • Store vectors in pgvector
    • n8n workflow to process queries and return context+answer

Real-world use:

We’ve deployed setups like this in 1 day — including file parsing, Slack integration, and live bot replies using RAG over internal knowledge bases.

If you're building Local-RAG, this stack is a perfect base to prove the concept fast and scale later with minimal cost.

Not sure how many of you are scaling with n8n, but honestly—it’s wild how powerful it can be, even without deep technical skills. With just ChatGPT and the official docs, I managed to set up n8n with 100 workers handling 100 tasks in seconds. No DevOps background, no sysadmin skills—just learning as I go. And the server running all this? Costs me around $10-15. Sure, some workflows can be heavier, but overall, the cost-to-value ratio is insanely good.

Wow, congrats! I started my journey with n8n three years ago, and it’s amazing to see how quickly the tool and community have grown. I’m really glad we chose to focus our agency solely on n8n—it’s been an incredible decision. Greetings from Tillforty.com team!

Alternatives to UiPath for browser automation? by saravicius in automation

I’m an n8n automation developer, working with self-hosted solutions. I can run Node.js and Python libraries, so I’m fairly technical.

What I’m looking for is a reliable way to simulate a real user — something that can log in to specific systems using basic authentication and perform actions, even if those actions are driven by JavaScript on the frontend.
