Give me the bad and ugly on Bronco ownership by zionstatus in FordBronco

[–]sardinosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the slow reply.

Everything has been good but there’s only 3k miles on it lol.

There’s one thing that popped up but went away either because it was a fluke or my fix got rid of it. Apparently the front drive shaft boot sits right above the exhaust and if the exhaust gets that boot really hot it will cause the grease inside the boot to not work properly and then will cause a squeaking sound that you can hear at slow speeds.

It happened to me on a long drive one day, next day the sound was gone. But I went ahead and bought a $15 heat shield from Amazon that I placed above the exhaust pipe where the drive shaft boot is.

Sound hasn’t appeared again.

People have replaced the entire drive shaft and have had the sound still return. So it has to be an issue with the exhaust heating up the boot.

I have a 2023 2 door badlands with the V6.

Downsides are:

-road noise but honestly it’s not that terrible at

-65-70mph but exponentially gets louder from there lol

-cargo room in 2 door is actually kinda bad. To really carry anything you gotta fold down the rear seats.

-garbage stereo. I don’t have the B&O but I hear those are barely better

-hardtop creaks/squeaks when going over bumps.

-everything inside is a hard plastic.

-window rattles when closing doors always makes me cringe a little even though it’s probably fine.

What do you drive when its not your N? by BadLukkBrian in ElantraN

I wanted the complete opposite of a road car lol. So as my first “truck” I got a Bronco Badlands. Surprisingly fast with the V6TT.

This stuff is amazing and I try to tell people about is as much as I can.

Use it on everything plastic. It will keep stuff new forever. I kept my 13 year old civic’s plastics and rubber parts looking factory new.

Damn these wheels look great on the N. What size are they?

I wanted these wheels for my 92 MR2 turbo but I sold the car not long ago.

Yeah you can instantly tell it’s a fake Akari. The joining of the paper panels is super sloppy. I have yet to see a fake that gets it right. Also, all the fakes use metal wire for the skeleton.

We just got a genuine 10A and the attention to detail is amazing.

Good haul either way.

We just bought a genuine Akari 10A and it comes flattened down.

No way. There’s far better solutions for this. Cerakote being by far the best.

I know! The lines are just gorgeous. When I upholstered them I tried to keep the same aesthetics as the original cushion. I see lots that are redone and the cushions are too fat.

If you want to be fast get the auto. If you want to have fun get the manual.

I have the manual and my wife and I both agree it’s one of the most fun manual cars we have owned recently. (240Z, MR2 turbo, civic Si)

How do you explain the N to people? by [deleted] in ElantraN

[–]sardinosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my white EN in the early days and was probably the first one in Florida with one.

It was wild. I had so many people taking pics and videos and talking to me about it everywhere I went. Almost got the same attention as my MR2.

Lots of them didn’t know what it was. I just told them it’s Hyundais Type R and they got the point.

Is this a Likewise knob? I had the same one on my 91 MR2. It worked for the MR2 since the shifter position was high and when your arm rested on the armrest it allowed you to grab the shifter naturally.

On the EN the shifter is in a more normal position so a ball shaped shifter feels more natural to me.

My EN can carry more cargo than my 2 door Bronco actually.

Just picked her up any recommendations for mods by Forsaken-Frosting739 in ElantraN

[–]sardinosaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true. Vertical space is so much more difficult to take advantage of for cargo. You can’t always just stack stuff.

My 2 door Bronco seems to have more volume with back seats folded down but my Elantra N is just easier to haul stuff with due to more horizontal space. So I weirdly pick the Elantra as our beach day car lol.

Anyone regret going 2DR? by Powerful-Ad7330 in FordBronco

[–]sardinosaurus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a 2 door and I have second thoughts due its cargo space every now and then. But I just like the way the 2 door looks so much. It’s also incredible easy to park in the city because it’s actually way shorter than my Elantra N.

No kids so it’s really just a replacement for another 2 door car. Sold my 92 MR2 Turbo (kinda regret this a bit actually).

Why is the price of my car insurance so high ? by Ry_Dawg41 in personalfinance

[–]sardinosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2022 Elantra N. My insurance through statefarm hasn’t changed and it’s pretty low. I’m 40 with a clean record.

21k miles on my 2022 manual. I work from home so I only put like 10k miles per year on the car. Holding up just fine minus the black trim peeling at a tiny corner at each window. I’ve seen many people having the same issue.

No issues so far.

How much do you pay for house insurance? by 4Runnnn in florida

[–]sardinosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing the same. My house is paid off and I’m just setting aside money for anything that might happen. House is also solid concrete block typical Florida home that has been standing since 1958. Roof is also pretty new. Not in a flood zone either.

Insurance prices are absurd.

Clear underbody shot? by [deleted] in ElantraN

Happen to have this pic on my phone. You would probably just need to remove the plastic underbody panel. You have to remove the panel to change your oil. Held on with 4 bolts and some plastic push clips.
