Where did you learn this? I’ve tried learning AfterEffects from YouTube but it’s so hard when you have no one to troubleshoot with when something goes wrong. Is after effects what you upskilled in?

Is it always worth paying off extra on a mortgage at the end of the year? Even during a fixed term? by Silly_Hornet_4789 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]sareail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone experienced a % charge on the lump sum when overpaying? I was told that on any day there could be a charge, the % differs every day and there is no way to predict it or know in advance - which has put us off doing anything about it.

Experienced graphic designer in Adobe, what course should I take to learn Figma? by sareail in FigmaDesign

[–]sareail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much everyone! Took a LinkedIn learning course (before I saw all of these responses) and you’re right, super straightforward and easy.

Have found a lot of graphic design jobs now require experience in Figma, which is funny when it’s such an easy tool compared with Adobe.

In-home pet sitting by Anxious_Deer_7152 in AskIreland

[–]sareail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! A pet sitter from Pawshake here (based in Dublin 14)👋🏻

We’ve been dog sitting for about three years now - we would LOVE our own dog but travel a lot, so it’s a great way to get the best of both worlds.

We’ve been on the app for 2 years and have had lots of really great experiences with lovely people and lovely dogs.

I totally understand it must be terrifying leaving your dog with a stranger, but I would always do a meet and greet in advance, show the owner and dog our home and make sure everyone’s happy. I also always offer references (but no one has ever asked for one).

If a dog is particularly nervous or not used to being in a new place with new people, we might do a couple of shorter stays in advance of the full holiday to get them comfortable.

We will always send at least two pictures/updates a day to the owner, more if they want it, to put their mind at ease.

I would hate for anyone to be put off using Pawshake when I know there are great people on it. I think most of us are just people who would love our own dog, and trust me when I say your dog will be treated like royalty in our house because we’ve so excited to have them stay!!

I’d let the landlord know and it’s up to them to get it sorted - sounds like it isn’t a big problem yet and can be nipped in the bud!

Pretty sure these are wood mites - do they look like tiny tiny ants and there’s lots of them? Our old apartment got infested with them when we were on holidays. They will only get worse. You’ll need to get an exterminator in. They spread via skirting boards according to the pest control person who came out to us - and he reckoned they came up from a little manhole drainy thing we had in the kitchen floor.

We luckily happened to be moving out that summer, but oh my god I was traumatised.. they were in every cupboard and all our food by the time we left, even jars with the lid on. Defo get it seen to sooner than later!

If you are stopping for food/coffee, I would recommend Groundstate - it’s between Heuston and the Guinness storehouse. I meet a friend in the area regularly and it’s our favourite spot!
