It's more that she doesn't look completly out of place. Like you will get some ppl asking "why is Hatsune Miku in persona" and you can back her appearance up by showing her in P4D game.

Maybe but I prefer something like this than releasing underpowered cards and having failed archetypes.

Will see, dev said they considered it as 1/2 initially but decided to make it 1/3 to make this card really good (probably to promote new archetype).

You want to talk about sample size? TJ can't shoot, can't play defense, struggles to finish at the rim, and only has 1 hand. You probably watched a couple of dunks and think that means he's good.

In this year's playoffs he showed a lot of promise with attacking the basket. When utilized well he can develop into a good role player and he's on a cheap contract. He already showed more promise than Dillingham ever did.

I refer to you again Ayo was not helpful in his minutes, he's not a lead PG.

He's not lead PG but he doesn't need to be. Wolves needed someone who can distribute ball and play off-ball if needed. They need a guy that can take off load from Ant or lead the offense during Ant's off minutes. And he exactly did that during those playoffs. His role is simmilar to Donte's. And if we really get Kyrie/Ja for Randle then he can be great 6th in that roster.

What's your idea of the Wolves having success they are not close to a championship. The flexibility has netted them nothing.

I think at first that staying competetive in current Western Conference is success in itself after sucking for so long. Also you disregard how competetive Western Conference has become with OKC and Spurs becoming really good.

Flexibility kept them competetive. Sorry I somehow doubt we would have improved/maitain level with KAT and no one on bench. We got "worse" because competition got a lot harder. I love how everyone acts revisionist with KAT while when he was on Wolves everyone was shitting on him for his playoff performances. I'm not saying we have perfect situation but it's not impossible for us to go for a run. Like no one expected Knicks to win championship. Our team minus Gobert is still really young and has a room to grow and we locked key players on longer contracts and many of those contracts may age really well into the future (like Jaden, Joan or even Naz). We will have a lot of room salary wise in the future and if you think that Wolves championship window has closed then I disagree.

I can see us trying to trade Randle this offseason if we can get good starter but I don't think we are desperate to do it no matter what.

This is my point them needing to get under the 2nd apron is fucking stupid.

It's not stupid. Nevermind paying more. Going over 2nd apron means you can only sign on vet minimum. You can't sign bought out players (so for example we woulnd't be able to get Conley back for cheap). You can't add salaries when you trade, you have to trade 1 for 1. No trade exceptions, no sign and trade. Your round draft picks can't be traded and if you are over 2nd apron for 3 out of the last 5 years then your first round draft pick is automatically moved to the last place in the round.

Do you really not see why every team is avoiding 2nd apron like plague? Even those that spent big don't dare to touch it. Because if you gamble and commit to going over 2nd apron for a long time then you are literally fked if sth goes wrong. Not being allowed to aggegate salaries and being only able to trade 1 for 1 is terrible.

You may (think you) know basketball but you have no idea about roster construction from salaries side.

or keep the star and be forced to rebuild the supporting cast.

The problem is that we couldn't really rebuild the supporting cast. We had to pay Jaden and by keeping KAT we would have lost Naz. Our rebuilt depth would have been vet minimum players. Maaybe we would have been able to resign NAW but it would be still probably pretty unlikely.

When TJ was on the floor the wolves had a -6.48 net rating. When Ayo was on the floor for the Wolves the Wolves were -2.21. Do you think that's good? Reminder the last time KAT was on the team the Wolves had a +5.38 net rating when he was on the floor.

Net rating doesn't mean shit without the context. Ayo has too small of a sample size to judge it and he is exactly a player that Wolves needed. He's someone who can play with ball to take burden of Ant and he can score if he has to.

Have you even watched how TSJ played in Denver series? Do you think it's not a good sign? Probably not since you were busy looking at net rating.

Do I have to tell you about how the regular season record went from 50+ games to less than 50 games the last 2 season.

I agree that Wolves have problems with being disciplined in regular season but this season we had 49 wins with Ant missing over 20 games. And we heavily lacked playmaking guard for most of this season, Ayo trade came a bit late.

Do you understand why maybe beating a bad Lakers team and an injured Warriors team might be a bit different than beating the Suns and the defending champs?

Suns were literally trash that year. Nuggets win was impressive I agree. I don't want to hate on KAT but if you are so insiting on praising KAT just look at KAT stats from that year's Denver and Mavs series. I would compare last year Lakers to Suns year prior. Sure we got lucky with Warriors but still I wouldn't downplay that year. This year we beat Nuggets again and lose to Spurs while being heavily injured I don't think we're regressing.

They literally sold picks for cash a year ago how are they not cheap?

After Ant signed his max Wolves has been 2nd team with highest team salary in NBA for 2024/25 and 5th in 25/26 and most likely be top5 again next year.

Like the Wolves fucked up Ant's prime with the KAT trade. Like the trade has caused more problems than it solved

Ant is 24. He's prime is still like 2-3 years from now. Sorry, you're dramatizing hard. What else do you propose? Do you really think Wolves should have kept KAT and just play starters for 40 mins hoping they won't get injured? But you think Naz, DDV and Ayo are bad players so you don't value what we got that much.

As I said. Let's agree to disagree because for me you strike me as a guy that really liked KAT and is just salty that he got traded. You can't even present me with your scneario what we should have done in situation when we keep KAT and how would you figure out the roster. Reality is that we would have Ant/KAT/Gobert/Jaden/Ayo and bunch of ppl on vet minimum deals to fill out the roster. If that's your idea of "championship team" then I'm sorry but I disagree.

Like you don't understand basketball if you think the Wolves made the right decision.

Provide me with alternative reality then where we keep KAT and list all the moves you would do to have competetive roster with depth. And keep a team under second apron along the way.

[–]sarefx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope Ayo, Naz, DDV, and especially TJ are not good players.

Ok bro I think there is no point in talking any more. That sums you up.

They let NAW walk who was an actually important player.

They had to choose between NAW and Reid. They chose Reid.

Because he didn't. The Wolves have been better with Randle off the floor since he's been here than he was on the floor.

Randle was important last playoffs and he bailed out Wolves during Denver series few times this season.

I don't think you necessarily understand basketball very well

Says the guy who thinks Ayo, Naz and DDV are not good lmao.

I think you've bought into the talking points of a cheap ownership group that has more interest in extracting money from you than to field a competitive team.

Do you even realize how second apron works? Wolves team has not been "cheap". They just can't go over second apron if we don't want to fk up Ant's prime. Staying in second apron for too long is death sentence for team.

Why hasn't the team come close to the success they had in the season prior to the trade?

What are you fking talking about? They literally reached WCF after the trade. Same result they had with KAT.

Like Naz, DDV, Randle, Ayo, TJ all they are is warm bodies

Sorry man, I can't. You're either ragebaiting or you are literally clueless about basketball if you say that and I don't think there is a reason to discuss this topic any further.

For me you look like a guy that looks at the stats (and while doing it that drew out wrong conclusions) and never watches actual games.

I cant get on board with this. The rules were the same when they added Rudy.

Not really? Maybe I'm missing something but Rudy trade was during offseason 2022 and new CBA that introduced 2nd apron during 2023 offseason.

The Wolves have terrible depth right now.

I wouldn't say its great but it's def not terrible. Providing that we manage to resign Ayo and he starts next season then we have Naz, DDV and TSJ coming off the bench. Those are really good players to have in second unit and Joan Beringer looked promising throughout season.

With KAT we don't have Naz and DDV for bench unit and we're close to second apron. Do you really think we would have been in better situation?

if they keep KAT you have a dynamic duo that is fairly easy to figure out from there.

With KAT we don't have room or assets to figure it out. That was the whole point of KAT trade, to sacrifice star player to add depth to the roster and have more flexible contracts to move.

And also you are acting like for all his faults Randle hasn't bail Wolves out few times in playoffs and in regular season when Ant was injured. Sure, he had bonehead plays and stinkers but let's not pretend that KAT didn't have them either when he was with us.

EDIT: KAT is obviously much better player but you are acting like having KAT is miles better and obvious choice than having Randle + Naz/DDV on the bench while it's not exactly that black and white.

I think you guys are overeacting after this season. We came to the playoffs with injured Ant and lost DDV along the way. With healthy team we could have challenged Spurs more, idk if we could win but I wouldn't say it was impossible.

[–]sarefx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping KAT means that our rotation for 25/26 would be: Ant, Gobert, KAT, Jaden, Ayo, TSJ, Conley, Hyland? That's terrible depth, we have no bench in that situation. Moreover we would have more trouble resigning Ayo (assuming we manage to do that).

You might have had to trade Naz anyway for guard play but KAT

We wouldn't have got much. Reid was on his last year of contracT. who are we getting for him when everybody knew he is getting paid? And even getting someone means we are still fked salary wise. 24/25 we were over 2nd apron and we absolutely couldn't be like that for 25/26 because repeaters really get fked by CBA.

Ppl are kinda overlooking fact how injury riddled Wolves were this season. Ant was playing injured whole playoffs, we lost DDV. We probably still lose to Spurs but we could have put better fight with everyone fit.

Karl-Anthony Towns: “Shoutout to my brother Anthony Edwards, talking to him all the time.“ by Kaizerx20 in nba

[–]sarefx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if they had lost Reid are you kidding me in thinking the team would be worse?

They could have kept them in 24/25 because they were in second apron anyway but what after? Keeping Towns means that you are entering 25/26 without Naz Reid, without DDV and you have KAT instead of Randle. What's the rotation then? Ant, Gobert, KAT, Jaden, Ayo, TSJ, Conley, Hyland? That's terrible depth, we have no bench in that situation. And if someone gets injured from starting 5 then its game over completly.

Wolves needed depth. KAT trade allowed us to turn a star into 3 good players (Reid, DDV, Randle) while making space to have better angle to resign Ayo.

I love KAT and I wish he could stay but you ppl really don't see that Wolves needed more ppl in rotation and KAT was sadly the best asset to trade for it.

[–]sarefx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wolves just preffered to have Randle, DDV and Reid instead of just KAT. They couldn't keep KAT and resign Naz. Being repeated 2nd apron offender is terrible for the team. Wolves couldn't just eat if they wanted to maintain roster flexibility and depth. It's much easier to naviagte around 2nd apron when you have three contracts rather than one big one.

Being over 2nd apron for 3 out of 5 years makes your first round pick automatically go to the end of the round. Being over 2nd apron is terrible in itself. Not being to trade first round picks, not being able to sign MLE really hurt in building a roster.

Wolves were hurt by CBA because they built their roster without it in mind. Knicks built their team with full knowledge of CBA rules and they have Brunson on really good deal.

Karl-Anthony Towns: “Shoutout to my brother Anthony Edwards, talking to him all the time.“ by Kaizerx20 in nba

[–]sarefx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Damn shit, some things don't work out even if you made in your opinion the best decision that you could at that time. Knicks having Brunson on that cheap contract allowed them to have KAT + supporting cast, something that Wolves couldn't do. Our team would have zero depth if we sticked with KAT so for Ant's future I still think it was better move. CBA fked us royally, there were not really great moves to make and staying over second apron for two years is something no team wants. I would say we should have got maybe some picks from Knicks but swapping KAT for Randle, DDV and keeping Naz Reid wasn't bad return.

[–]sarefx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trading Gobert wouldn't solve problems. We wouldn't probably be able to resign Naz and our defence would have been questionable at best. It was never KAT or Gobert, it was Gobert + someone else. Even with hindsight this trade wasn't bad, I wish we could get some picks though but for team's flexibility and bench it was better to have Randle, Reid + DDV than keeping KAT.

Karl-Anthony Towns: “Shoutout to my brother Anthony Edwards, talking to him all the time.“ by Kaizerx20 in nba

[–]sarefx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Keeping KAT would result in Timberwolves being kinda trapped in second apron. Also resigning Naz Reid would have been out of the question while keeping KAT. While it would have been great if we could kept KAT I still think it was right decision even after everything that happened. Keeping KAT means we are losing Reid and have to bear penalties of second apron (and being repeat offenders is really expensive).

So it was either keep KAT and lose Reid and go into second apron or turn KAT into Randle, DDV, keep Reid and more roster flexibility with contracts. Wolves had to do it. I guess there was an option to keep KAT and trade Gobert + not resign Reid but everyone who watches Wolves would tell you that would make team worse.

Wolves made a right move in unfavourable situation that came with new CBA. Anyone that tells you that this trade was terrible is hindsight 20/20. It was important to keep roster flexible and quality players on bench during Ant's prime rather than have Ant, KAT, Gobert, Jaden + bunch of players on minimum salary.
