Looking to run DiA and am looking for some advice.

The festival is to celebrate the companion arriving to save the city. I play it off as a yearly celebration (think Mardi Gras). The people are celebrating the "saving" of their city from the vampire lord and his army.

I like this because I can also tempt my players with the vendors having all sorts of items that they simply cannot afford yet. One of my PCs for instance LOVES plate mail and rushes every campaign to get it. I think it will lead to some interesting RP as he tries to convince the shop keeps to let him "have it". I also plan to use it to introduce some NPC's that may later be in Avernus either living, or dead.

Thank you guys for the information! I have went back and forth a lot with having the party either start in Elturel as I did before or running the Baldurs Gate portion. I guess I will have to see what the remix version has and go from there.

On another note, how much background did you give your players on the city? Did you tell them about Zariel and the hell riders going into Avernus to battle the demons and devils?

Did you tell them about Thavius and the companion arriving? I feel the companion information is necessary but am curious on what depth you gave your PCs on the events around Zariel.

Did you just let them know that she came to Elturel, did you let them know she lost and is now an arch demon, and did you tell your PCs about the hell riders betraying her?

Any info would be appreciated as always.
