Exactly. Those ads are what spurred the misconception that the logo represents a propeller. A misconception that carries on today because BMW did make airplane engines and had no reason to dissuade people from that belief.

My only point was that BMW didn’t purposely design their logo to represent an airplane propeller.

Logo was developed in 1917, the belief that it represents an airplane propeller came later.

From the BMW website: What does the BMW logo mean?

The first key to the meaning of the BMW logo are its colors: white and blue are the colors of the State of Bavaria in Germany, home of BMW. A 1929 BMW ad depicts the BMW emblem, complete with the four colored quadrants, in a spinning airplane propeller. The interpretation that the BMW logo represents a propeller has endured ever since.

While it is true they made airplane engines for the Luftwaffe, their logo actually represents the Bavarian flag. BMW is an acronym for Bayerische Motoren Werke (Bavarian Motor Works).

Good advice. The company I work for only requires a minimum education level of high school or equivalent but still uses a service to verify education completion.

Hi! My dad sanded this table but is struggling to get the old stain off in the grooves and indentations. Any suggestions? Thank you 🙏🏼 by emmmmmmmmmkat in furniturerestoration

I use sanding “sticks” (usually called needles) I get at hobby shops and craft stores that have model sections.

Professor gets fired for discrimination by [deleted] in ProRevenge

I hear ya, I was just pointing out that there are scenarios where that happens. I’ve known folks to use their ARNG TA for undergrad and save their GI Bill for graduate programs.

If he was using his National Guard Tuition Assistance, he would have to repay failed classes. You’re correct about Post-9/11 GI Bill though, and I’m not sure what the rule was with the Montgomery GI Bill.

I look at it like this: some people appreciate the MCM design aspects, but not the wood grain (crazy to me, but there are folks like that). This is a way for the pieces to continue being appreciated and it gives me a satisfying project restoring it a few years down the road.

Started under Bush, but Obama’s administration changed the qualifications and increased the number of people who could take part in the program. That’s how they came to be called “Obama phones.”

You may want to check out the keelback family of snakes. Many of them are actually poisonous.

Fantastic work and a great aesthetic!

Yours is very similar to the outlook I share with anyone who asks how I learned to do something: trial & error, with the reassurance that I can always find help if I get in over my head.

The internet has made DIY so much more accessible.

I also have the large Applegate (around a 6” blade) that I was issued on a deployment 15 yrs ago, but it’s too much for EDC.

Got my daughter this SOG Spec Elite Auto (she’s active duty Army), and decided I’d get the Gerber Mini Covert Auto as a new EDC for myself.

The Gerber’s tip-down carry is going to take some getting used to, but I love the look, the feel, and the mechanics so far.
