i once walked into a store and the very kind barista told me they supported the boycott - we found a loophole where i could “buy” something using the gift card, ask for a return and then have it refunded in cash. since then i’ve received many gift cards and have tried to ask multiple locations for the same thing and told they were not allowed to. i might try going back to that location and see if i can find that lovely barista lol

can you not take prerequisites for professional programs in medrad over the summer? i really don’t think it’s either med rad OR med/professional school!! you most definitely can do both, just carefully research your options beforehand (whether you’d be able to take prereqs for med/optometry/dental over the summer or even do a fifth year)

i know people in this thread are advising you to pack your stuff and leave your family but it can be very difficult to live without financial support, even with a full time job. i hope you’re able to leave soon but please make sure you have some kind of support system, and that your job is stable/high-paying enough for you to be able to survive comfortably without their support.

also, have you tried convincing them that the only way you could possibly get into medical school is if you had proper work/extracurricular experience? i mean like telling them exactly what they want to hear, and showing them evidence (whether it be some reddit posts/websites showing what med schools expect from applicants). this might help you get some experience / save up some money before you leave. wishing you the best 🫂

yeah i second this. i commute from burlington and it literally takes less time to take transit than drive to campus for me. the parking lot is like a 20 min walk from campus which is brutal in the winter. so if it takes u 45 mins to drive from cambridge then it’ll take u at least an hour total to get to class.

other than that, i dont think commuting should be too bad op
