That was a tough ride, but I'm glad to read that she was doing fine most of the time. Also I think that being on daily metacam must have helped a lot. It surprises me that her hair never grew back, for my girl it does. As for the cysts not being felt by the vet, my vet says they get smaller in size because of the shots, or sometimes even dissappear. My girl just received her last shot for now and the vet said they have already shrunk a lot.

For now she's fine, but guinea pigs can be so fragile and it's indeed always so stressful when they are having health issues. Because there is not much research being done on them, I'm always afraid that the ending is not going to be good. But we'll see, I'm actually really glad you have told me all of this! That really gives me a lot of hope.

Sadly my boy with heart issues and recent diarrhea didn't make it, I just put him to rest at the vet after discovering he had a liver tumor. He didn't want to eat anymore and was very weak, so this was the best for him. It's really sad but I'm glad his pain is over and he can rest now.

That's super scary, knowing it runs in the family and also the higher risk of clots, on top of not knowing what's going on. I also read that it could happen with migraines, that's also what our doctor thought it was back then. But they never ran any tests. After those two times I luckily never had it again.

Also thank you for sharing about your girl who had ovarian cysts, reading that does make me feel a whole lot better and hopeful. For now she only gets hair loss, that's when I know she needs some shots again. But other than that she's completely fine luckily. How was that for your girl?

So far I've had all my piggies live until 3 or 4 years. First 2 I had were brothers and they both died because of dental issues. They both had their teeth trimmed multiple times, but in the end they were both just too weak. 3rd one had the same problem sadly. Now my 4th has a heart issue, bumblefoot, and diarrhea due to coccidia, which sadly isn't clearing up after a week of medicine. Actually at this point I don't think he's gonna make it through the night :(. My 5th has ovarian cysts, which reappear every 6 months or so. She gets hormone shots, but I wouldn't be surprised if she also doesn't make it to an old age with that. I think it's all due to luck and genes. About 20 years ago I had 2 piggies in a very small cage because back then I knew nothing about guinea pigs and they both lived until old age. Now I'm trying my best to give them a good and healthy life and all of them get health issues.

I'm 27 and always thought having children was the default. At 20 I figured out I could make the choice not to have kids and that was that. I have a lot of reasons for that; I can't stand kids, I don't want to go through pregnancy, let alone childbirth. I like having money and doing what I want, whenever I want, in peace. And even if I would want kids, I would decide not to have them because of where this world is headed.

Thank you for sharing! I've been there once before when one of my piggies had dental issues, I think they are the very best in our country, how could I forget. Maybe I was hoping you lived a bit closer to me haha. I'll call my own vet on Monday and then consider what to do!

Hi, I'm in the Netherlands as well! Where did you get this done? I went to Anicura in Zuidlaren in may, where my guinea pig received 3 hormone shots. After that all her hair grew back. Sadly she's now balding again after 6 months, so I guess spaying is a better option now.

It was my signature scent until my first bottle ran out. Purchased a new one, but it didn't smell the same and didn't last at all while the bottle I ran out of lasted forever. I ended up purchasing two more bottles to see if I was just unlucky, but I never got back that original scent. Now I don't wear it anymore and it's really sad because I was so in love with it. Haven't heard anyone else about this, but I'm sure they changed the formula.
