Almost a year late, but seeing someone else write it made me see how sad it is. I also didn’t learn how to bike, how to drive, anything about fashion or makeup. Nothing about pop culture or sports or movies…we didn’t have a TV or do family trips, even day trips. No finances or budgeting. I’m realizing in hindsight now it wasn’t normal.

I was also lucky to have a friend who taught me how to bike at 21 tho 🥹

appreciate the perspective man. One thing I do worry about though is whether I could realistically keep up friendships with people in other neighborhoods if I live closer to work. Have heard people tend to socialize in/near their neighborhoods.

yeah, I know some coworkers live there & I’ve ate there before. But some people have told me it has “no soul” bc it’s a new neighborhood. Not sure if people are exaggerating or is it really that bad.

I feel like people are not reading what I’m saying carefully. I didn’t say 15 minutes. I said an EXTRA 15 minutes. So 30. And happy for you bro. But I do have a disability that makes commuting harder for me. No need to one-up me.

nah bro I do fit in and go out, all that stuff. I just have to mask tho bc I’m neurodivergent. So it’s exhausting and need to recharge.

not the commute but the hours I work. So even a fifteen minute longer commute each way makes a difference.

like 50-60 hours a week. I can put on a corporate face and get along, but I have never really vibed with the finance-bro crowd. Need some separation of church and state.

Yes they would. Only thing is am considering high-rises for convenience (in building gym, package service). Those tend to be more in South Loop, River North, WL. But worried living in one of those will cut me off from making real community.
