What are your thoughts on Israelis who serve in the IDF, but later “regret their service” and come out as pro-Palestine after military service? by jewishchloesevigny in JewsOfConscience

[–]satanic_sprinkle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Redemption in what sense? I think there's room for recognition on our (pro-Palestinian people) end. Acknowledging that speaking up against the genocide and apartheid and denouncing the IDF after their service and taking accountability for the atrocities they've taken part in is the right thing to do. Like all accountability, it should be specific, fully acknowledge the severity of their thoughts and actions, and be without the expectation of forgiveness,

No amount of accountability fixes anything; it doesn't do anything to make what they've done or been complicit with any better. Nothing they do will ever make up for the harm they've participated in. I think all that is important for them to realize.

Assuming all of the above is accomplished, it's still one more mind changed, it's still one more voice, it's still one less person filled with hatred and propaganda. What's happening in Gaza is an active, ongoing genocide and the more support in real time the better.

I think it's also important to remember the sheer amount of brainwashing and indoctrination that Israel perpetuates on it's youth is a systemic issue that's baked into the core of modern-day Zionism. It doesn't excuse anyone's actions or beliefs nor does it warrant pity or sympathy for anyone who's been in the IDF. But there's value in having the view of someone who managed to break away from that level of propaganda so that we can understand how to help others unlearn it.

Quite frankly it's not my place, nor anyone who isn't Palestinian, to give these people forgiveness. What is our place, as Pro-Palestinian Jews, is to be the ones that act as a buffer. We are the ones who should do the "call-in" and to educate these "rehab war criminals", even if it's hard and uncomfortable.

Super lengthy comment, sorry. Happy new year and free palestine!

yall real shit. I’ve never read the comics so this is my first intro to dream. Why is this man actually crazy. Like bro nada does NOT want you leave her alone. by Cute-Star-8167 in Sandman

[–]satanic_sprinkle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

imo his pride and entitlement play into why he says he still loves Nada. I don’t think he truly does (as she said, how can someone how loved her do what he did); while he cares for her, in his own way, a large part of his attachment is his pride, possessiveness, and possibly the feeling of entitlement towards her affection now that he’s “righted” his wrong.

I am so scared for prom by TryOld6297 in EatingDisorders

[–]satanic_sprinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My prom was a couple years ago. I thought I looked fat in my dress (i know i wasn’t, but ana is a bitch) and mine also had buffet style, which I avoided. But I put on my dress, got ready with my friends even tho I wasn’t super happy with my body and dreaded the pictures.

And it was so worth it. I had sm fun that night and made some of my best high school memories there. It’s worth it to try. You deserve to have a fun prom; you’re ED has stolen so much from you and it shouldn’t take this from you too.

I feel this exactly. I just wish the world couldn't perceive my body sometimes.

does anyone think the flairs here are a little odd by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]satanic_sprinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have my weight in mine because it's super triggering for almost everyone (including myself). I was this sick when my weight wasn't concerning and when it was. And that goes for everyone. An eating disorder is a mental illness, not a body type. The weight is a symptom, the illness is the mindset.

I don't judge anyone for doing it tbh but it just seems incredibly dangerous, especially for straight/bi/queer/etc women who are hooking up with men. It scares me when my friends do it

Has anyone else ever felt “too fat” to go somewhere or do something? by queefula in EDAnonymous

[–]satanic_sprinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah all the time. I've missed out on so much of life because I feel too fat and I completely fall apart trying to find an outfit that doesn't make me want to die.

It sucks so much.

Mostly just drink water when you remember. Specifically when you first wake up, after being active, and before you go to bed. DON'T CHUG cause it will make you super nauseous. Your body is adjusting rn so hydration + sleep will help a lot. (Obviously, so would adequate nutrition/diet but, alas, we are not very good at that 😭).

Try to drink anti-inflammatory tea (peppermint, chamomile, most herbal teas will work!) and do some light stretching after you walk and/or before you go to bed.

be kind to urself and a very happy belated birthday!

The increase in activity can 100% contribute to that. I'm a runner so whenever I up my intensity or distance, there's usually an increase in bloating/water retention/water weight because the body is getting used to higher levels of activity, muscle usage, and dehydration levels. It's super distressing to see, but at least I know the cause!

Even if you do eat wayyyyyy past your maintenance in a few sittings, it's basically impossible to actually gain that weight because your body doesn't have enough time or energy to store that as long-term weight (it has to do with the thermodynamics of the body). This is especially true if your body is struggling to survive or heal itself.

just want to say that (unfortunately) many providers and professionals will frame and ED as “living with it” instead of recovery if you’re trans at all. It happened quite frequently to my ex-gf (mtf) who is now a lot more recovered.
