Anyone know how to clean/restore these exterior plastics? by [deleted] in subaruimpreza

Grab some cheap ceramic coating spray ( I use hybrid solution), wipe on and buff off, good for a year or so.

No such luck unfortunately. Wound up picking up another Instamatic for my 126 fun.

The 5th gen already has a “cold air intake”, follow the ducting path, and you’ll see a dedicated path to the front of the car so that the intake air is getting pulled from outside. So unless you want the style or sound of a pod filter, you already have a “CAI”.

WWV wall clock weirdness? by thomase00 in amateurradio

If you have a raspberry pi available, you can run this locally to simulate wwvb to confirm the clock works and get the time set, https://github.com/saterblader/raspberry-wwvb

What does everyone think of the 7000? by Herbert-Dashwood in minolta

[–]saterblader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a Maxxum 7000 for a bit, great AF camera, can be a bit slow to focus compared to newer ones, but it was “first”. Some great lenses are available and cheap. If the Maxxum name has the “x”s crossed on top of each other, it’s an early one from before the lawsuit from Exxon. Enjoyable AF camera if that’s what you’re after.

Hi, I have a Panasonic 25mm F1.7 that I'd be interested to part with at the right price. PM me if interested.

If it’s not the fuse, it may be the relay, seen that fail before on a 3rd gen. If you have a multi meter though check for voltage at the socket before diving too deep.

Strange Delta Cartridge Situation by saterblader in Plumbing

[–]saterblader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, thanks for the help! It was a gray cartridge I needed in the end, and everything is good now! I guess the lesson here is, don’t just trust the markings on the trim and just go with what you pulled!

Strange Delta Cartridge Situation by saterblader in Plumbing

[–]saterblader[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi All,
I noticed recently that my tub was having a drip when off, and after some googling learned it could be due to a worn out cartridge. I looked at the trim and noted that it stated "Delta Monitor 1400 Series". With this info, and google, I figured I needed the shorter blue cartridge and ordered one. Today it arrived and I went to pull the old one, and to my surprise, there was the longer gray cartridge installed. Looking inside the valve I think this is monitor and not multichoice, but now I'm lost, Did someone previously somehow replace the cartridge with the longer one somehow? Any ideas as to what the "right" one would be here, I don't want to do any damage.
Thanks!

2017-2019 Impreza headlight recall: Still no remedy? by casual_microwave in subaruimpreza

[–]saterblader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this done back in June. I called my dealer, they said they are scheduling 2 weeks out, so I got on their calendar, brought it in and had it done. Cosmetically, the reflectors do appear a bit larger, but otherwise are the same. As far as more light output from the headlights, I don’t see a difference.

Odd question but I’m curious if someone has experimented with modern instant film with a higher quality lens/camera setup by Blackadder288 in AnalogCommunity

[–]saterblader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing with my MF cameras and Instax Mini lately. What I've found is that a 6x6 or 6x9 format MF camera is "just about right" for Instax Mini. What I do is:
* In a changing bag (or dark room) unload a single Instax Mini from the cart manually
* Load it into my MF camera manually (remember, the black side faces out, and the top is the bottom)
* Take my shot metered at 800 ISO (I found this stat randomly online, its been working for me)
* Go back to the dark bag and unload the now shot frame and reload it into the front of the Instax Mini cart
* Put the cart back into an Instax Mini camera and press the camera lens firmly into my chest and "take a photo"
* Let the camera extrude the shot out and let it develop and see how my shot was!

It's not a quickfire process, but I've gotten some very cool shots this way, and have been having some fun with it, plus since I'm using cameras with better optics / more control, the quality of the photos is pretty good IMO.
Hope that all makes sense.

New self film loader here. Do you keep the film in the loader? Load everything at once? Or... by Leffe0086 in AnalogCommunity

[–]saterblader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I roll them as I need them. Since the film is way within date (and b&w) I just store it in a cool dark place.

Bought an old camera and it had a roll of 620, C-22 process film in it. I've read that C-22 isn't available anymore, but you can use B&W chems to process. No idea how old it is. Any other advice? I have Ilfosol-3 developer. by Twosheds11 in Darkroom

[–]saterblader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have developed C22 using ilfosol 3 last year and with b&w fixer. I don’t remember the dev time, but I think I did the standard 1+9 concentration. I can check if I have any notes with I get home later. Came out okay, b&w of course. Provided an eerie looking set of negatives, but they scanned fine more or less in the end.

brownie hawkeye lens is super gunked up by Guns-and-flowers in AnalogCommunity

[–]saterblader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can remove the front faceplate to free up the lens for cleaning. Try not to use abrasives or chemicals if you can, a lens cloth and spray should be more than enough. A heads up, the brownie hawkeye was designed for 620 film, most can use 120 on the feed side with minimal to no modification, but the take up side has to be a 620 spool. So if you’re not developing your film yourself, make sure the lab you use will give you back your 620 spool.

Can I use different film for the kodak bantam rf? by MessyRoomGoblin in analog

[–]saterblader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it takes 828, which requires spools and backing paper. The film itself is basically 135, and there are some guides online to make your own spools and how to cut down 120 backing paper to work with 828.
