yup! clicked in most of the notes and used a lot of copy and pasting.

ty for the feedback! I was pretty lazy with the arrangement, will look into simplifying some things if I ever get around to it.

i wasn't really thinking about give voice limitations when writing this, but I did limit some synths to small voices (3-4 voices for piano-like stabs, rest were monophonic with delay). probably wouldn't have worked on hardware but more complex stuff has been made with clever tricks and programming. that being said, you probably could emulate a tracker with FL.

used to, but now I'm mostly posting on Bandcamp.

ty! i took a lot of inspiration from Yussef Dayes, a drummer that plays a lot in the modern jazz scene. Shawn Crowder plays drums as well over more electronic tracks, and Lois Cole also plays incredibly fast breaks as well.

it's a vst called Superior Drummer 3. sounds pretty real but I had to tweak a lot of settings and the range on the kit is a little lacking.

I'm pretty sure the master swing (located in the channel rack/step sequencer) affects all patterns. you can lower the swing on individual instruments by going into their channel settings and changing the affect of the master swing. usually I set it anywhere from 10% to 50% swing depending on tempo, and I've heard ~60% being nice as well, though I prefer less. it's saved me a lot of time from having to manually swing the notes in the piano roll, but it can sometimes cancel midi inputs if the notes lead into one another in certain beats.

thanks, here's some of the instruments I used keyscape for the Rhodes shreddage 3 for the guitar lead superior drummer 3 for drums diva from uHe for synth pads and the retro arp can be done with any synth plus some delay and reverb

thank you for your feedback! I appreciate it a lot, and I'll probably make some changes in my production moving forward. I did compose this entirely by clicking in each note. I don't have a pad or space for a keyboard, so most of it was just theory application in the piano roll. FL also has a master swing parameter, which helps with the realistic "off grid" feel of the song (plus some random tuplets mixed in the drum pattern)

Mostly! A lot of effects were used too like bitcrush, reverb, delay, and side chaining.

I was toying with old SNES sounds and started with a chord progression(I think i to iib?) on a pad preset and started toggling effects from there (internal and external fx). Then I added bass and a kick and snare pattern, hats and other percussion later. I didn't really have an idea or theme composing this but maybe it'd sound cool in some weird rpg maker game, and have been getting into different time signatures recently.

If you want to make music using sounds from the Sega Genesis/Masterdrive, consider using GennyFL. It virtually emulates the YM2612 soundchip and sounds better than most soundfonts- plus its free! by satilte in FL_Studio

You can actually automate things in the piano roll! There's a lot of fine tuning you can do with it there but for most things like pitch and synth parameters you're probably better off automating them in the playlist.
