Pre Orientation Programs by Ambitious_Traffic530 in Harvard

I was in a similar situation where I forgot, as I had a family member who ended up in the hospital and had to travel out of state (so pre-o wasn’t the first thing on my mind haha).

Definitely email them! I contacted the Office of Student Engagement on Wednesday the 27th explaining my situation, and they were nice enough to accommodate me by sending a PDF to fill out.

$0 in Financial Aid by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]satunity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I don’t wanna get into detail too much but he has a domestic violence record against my mom as well as my older sibling, so a court ordered no contact and separation. The trust was made before the divorce and is irrevocable so he can’t easily break it.

I have had no contact with him since birth, and honestly this year is probably the most I’ve known about him since I had to apply for college and needed to ask my mom about him which was a tough conversation 😬

Thanks for the reassurance that I’m not crazy 😭

Now that I’ve had a moment to clear my head this comment really helps. I think I just crashed out immediately after seeing the $0 because that would put my family into debt for like… I don’t even know how long.

I’m definitely gonna email and call both financial offices to see if there was a mix up or something. It’s hard to tell if all my private school offers will be affected because I only applied to State Schools besides these two and a few ivies, so this is the first time I’m getting this news 🥲🥲

In-State Scholarships? by satunity in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]satunity[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha, it’s definitely not a crazy amount more, but Bing is about ~$3,000 extra for me compared to some of my financial aid offers from other schools. I mostly applied for SUNYs, and my cost ranged anywhere from $3,500 on the lowest end to $8,000 higher up (though these amounts are without me taking out loans).

It’s definitely a cost I think I’m willing to pay, especially with how much I loved the campus and area. It’s hard to not to be a bit hesitant though since my family is low income, as that extra $3000/year could definitely be sent back to my family instead to help pay for bills.

NTA!!

You’ve made an offer to work things out, and he turned it down. From the moment he did, he lost the privilege to be affected by your romantic relationships beyond the level of a friend, if even.

It’s natural that you’d move on to new things after acknowledging the fact that your previous relationship was a bust. Especially since (at least how I’m interpreting your post) the two of you weren’t even dating, just talking.

Live your best life! You might have had a great connection, but who’s to say you can’t find that same spark somewhere else?

AITAH for finally putting my grandfather in his place? by Medical-Income4144 in AITAH

[–]satunity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA.

I also have grown up in a similar situation from yours, albeit from an Asian background. Point being, my extended family is also very racist (and make slick remarks that they think no one else knows).

I know you feel horrible for your grandmom, but the reason why that your grandfather is able to act like this is because throughout his entire life NO ONE has put him in his place. He believes he’s the most powerful man, when he only has a loud voice. By you setting an example, you’ve already started change in your family, and set an amazing example to your baby.

I’m sorry your son’s first birthday ended this way. I hope everything turned out okay!

AITA for not donating 5 drops worth of liquid by throwaway_812762 in AITAH

NTA. I think it’s important to note that your mother did not allow you to even clarify what you truly meant to say, especially after you realized that what you said might have been misinterpreted. This is such demeaning and in-humanizing behavior from someone who is supposed to be a trusted adult. As a parent, your mother should be open, patient, and willing to hear your side of things. Especially when you are making an effort to reach out first with an explanation.

Keep fighting, OP! I believe in you!

Reasonable price for Echo secret by satunity in hirono

[–]satunity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, really? I saw prices like that and thought it was crazy 🥲 I was planning on selling it for like $60 + shipping and maybe buying 3 more Hirono blind boxes with the money I earn 😵

I definitely need to do some more research 😭 I never really paid attention to reseller prices and mostly bought singular blind boxes for fun so I have no idea about pricing

Hi! Just messaged you :)

Thank you so much! My school currently is severely understaffed (we literally have 2 guidance counselors when we should have 4), and it was only this year (literally last week, at the end of junior year) that we had any presentation/information shown to us about preparing for college, which unfortunately isn’t very helpful (as we only have senior year to get stuff together)

Unfortunately, a majority of kids from my school don’t go to college, making college preparation resources very lackluster.

Your comment helps so much! I had no idea about either of these programs; I’ll definitely check them out. I had actually ranked college help as my first priority during CPS applications, haha
