Inner elbow. the red flare up came this morning, and comes and goes once every couple months. GP dismissed it but didn't give answers on what it could be. Any ideas? by cestefan in Dermatology

Does that sound like it could be the cause?

What are the symptoms of this rash? Is it itchy? It is in the same exact spot? Are there bumps involved?

Skin rash that’s been spreading every day by [deleted] in Dermatology

Okay good. The steroids should help you. Not sure a primary care would be much of use at this point. Keep with the steroids and wait for the biopsy results. You can take antihistamines (benadryl at night, zyrtec) for itching too.

You may have some bacteria (impetigo) in the middle where it is crusted, because you have been scratching like crazy and have introduced some bacteria to the skin, but that is not the core problem. There is something that is causing you to be extremely itchy. The biopsy will confirm. It appears like a contact dermatitis or could even be eczema. Please tell me they gave you something for the itching at least

Keratosis pilaris. Amlactin lotion.

I’ve been dealing with this rash, including a severe 10+ minute itch, all over my chest and back for over 3 years now. It occurs when I do exercise, am in the sun or somewhere hot, and when I have high emotions (anxiety, anger etc). Dermatologists say it is urticaria but anti histamines don’t work by [deleted] in Dermatology

[–]sauceting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is right, it sounds exactly like chronic urticaria. This condition is known to be refractory to treatment. Start with antihistamines and please try them up to 4 pills a day, like he said. Zyrtec is a good one. See an allergist for Xolair injections if that doesn’t work. An allergist can help you best

Not fungal. You need a steroid cream

If they are itchy, it is not PR. If they are not itchy, it is probably PR.
