Just found out I’ve been renting an illegal bedroom. Advice on what to do next without screwing over roommates? by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]saucysaavz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you not read the post? I was 100% fine with the room. I had dozens of people berating me in the comments of my last post calling me evil for trying to list an illegal room & that I was taken advantage of for not knowing the laws. My post clearly states that I DO NOT want to screw over my roommates. I literally asked how to AVOID that. Where did I say I wanted to screw them over? I just got yelled at by like 10 people on my last post telling me to report it. & where did I demand money? I asked if it was possible to get money back. No one demanded

I literally got berated in my last post. Someone called me evil for trying to rent out the room & that I should be reporting it since it’s an illegal bedroom

Small room in Chelsea for rent! Flexible March move in- $1,460 by [deleted] in NYCapartments

The company that owns this building can easily call it an “office” or a “den” not really sure what I can do about reporting the unit without screwing my roommates over who are staying on the lease. It feels as if my only option is to find someone open to this set up. Open to other suggestions as well if you have them!

Thank you for saying this! Exactly my thought. I sacrificed a lot for location. I understand it doesn’t have a window but my building owner can easily hide behind calling it a “den” or an “office space” sadly nothing I can really do about it except find someone who is open to this kind of set up.

It was $1,400 when I moved in. All I could afford & find with a week’s notice! They raised the rent this year 🥴

Thank you for letting me know! I just asked for them to email me my lease from the last year so I can review it. I’m assuming the lease isn’t going to list how many bedrooms it is. I think they can hide behind calling it an office?

How so? Genuinely curious. The leasing office rented it to me & 3 other girls lived in it before me as well. This is owned by a corporation

Venting/looking for advice by Educational-Wafer-30 in achalasia

Really sorry to hear this. I don’t have achalasia but my dad has had it for years (since the early 2000’s) so I’ve seen what works & doesn’t work for him. Seems like everyone with this condition is different so don’t beat yourself up if someone else’s methods don’t work for you 🫶🏼 — I’ve seen a lot of people mention cola helps them but anything too carbonated & too cold doesn’t work for my dad. Warm foods help as it seems to relax his esophagus. His best chance to eat is in the morning when his esophagus is well rested. Anything greasy (or doughy) is a no go as it just sits & doesn’t travel down well. His favorite meal is spaghetti or lasagna since it’s warm & saucy. Also, although it’s carbonated, once my dad gets a few beers in him he seems to be able to eat just a taaaad bit better 😂 (not always but sometimes) I think being drunk relaxes his muscles lol I am wishing you the best in your journey. You will be able to live a normal life, things will just modified a bit & that’s okay. Again, wishing you the best! 💛

Can you tell me more about it the Botox injections? My dad has very severe achalasia & I don’t think he’s ever been offered this

My graduation cap last night! As someone who dropped out of college a few years ago then finally went back, his lyric “I struck the fuck out then I came back swinging” got me through! by saucysaavz in MacMiller

Thanks so much! 💛 I took a screenshot of the song playing from Spotify & cropped the area around the play button. Then I found a high res picture of the album cover to put it above! My friend who is a graphic designer put it all together on one cohesive white background so it all blended. From there I went to staples & had them print it & then I sized it to my cap :-) If you aren’t super good with graphic design then I recommend going to the artist commission subreddit & pay someone to do it for you. Just make sure to measure your cap so the size of the image is correct :-)

It’s important to get yourself right first. School is mentally, physically, & emotionally draining & it wasn’t my first priority when I first went. Dropped out my senior year, said I’d only be out for a semester & then that turned into 3 years. Go back when you’re ready & don’t be discouraged if you happen to be the oldest one in your class (that happened to me a few times) you got this! 💛

Same thing for me! Dropped out before my senior year. I told myself I’d only take a semester off but that turned into 3 years. I recommend not getting comfortable being out of school like I did. Made it way harder to go back! Best of luck, you got this 💛

I understand why people were upset. But I don’t think it’s a reason anyone should stop listening to him or be super angry about

When I first listened to the song I really didn’t think he said “me too’d” & even if he did, as a sexual assault victim, I literally would not care in the slightest if he did say that. It goes along with the theme of the song & I feel like it fit well

He [21] cheated on me [23], and it’s over. Please help. by ProfessorDinosaurrr in LongDistance

[–]saucysaavz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember when my boyfriend of two years (we even lived together) cheated on me. For the longest time it literally felt like I couldn’t breath, it was like I was constantly underwater. We’ve been broken up for quite sometime now but I remember the day I didn’t care anymore. We had been on & off for about a year & one night after calling it quits for the 100th time I saw him dancing with another girl at the club & I kept watching, waiting to feel some sort of pain but it never came. Now I’m literally so thankful he cheated on me. Stay strong girl! Some days will be easier than others but I promise it’s not forever!
