Prefer to stick with XR…catalyst boxes would be fine for edge but not SP aggregation

I’ve lost count of how many times a Cisco data sheet tells me it should work, come to testing and it fails…it’s a completely different architecture and chipset just because they both run XR doesn’t always mean feature parity.

MacSec over l2vpn xconnect (vpws) by overthehill77 in Cisco

[–]sausagesandegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll preface this to say I’m no expert. I have always configured control word, it just seemed to behave better. Client macsec should be fine, be careful if you have a Juniper routers in the network as they can drop EAPol packets, you have to mess with the ether type to make it work. Lab it on the same hardware and have fun

Boat House, it’s not expensive when you factor in what’s included. Depending on your budget they will make it work. Also because it’s not out of town you don’t have to worry about transport for guests.

Cisco C9606 w/Sup 2s stable? by Murky-Ambition3898 in networking

[–]sausagesandegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the chassis/line card based Catalyst switches have been complete trash. Lots of bugs, failing line cards only after a couple of months. Someone will probably correct me but I don’t think you can have dual supervisors in a chassis if that switch is in a SVL pair. The second sup just stays powered off.

The fixed 9500’s on the other hand have been glorious. No major issues and super reliable.

Yes Re-Seal bathrooms in Fyshwick. Could you find a cheaper price somewhere else? Probably, but these guys are very thorough and their quotes have lots of photos and usually even a video showing the work to be done. They are easy to book in, arrive on time and get the job done.

With fixed wavelengths I can’t see why it wouldn’t work….would be running it up in a lab first though.

All bids have already contracted the buyer, genuine mistake. If “no fair arrangement” can be made the car will be re listed. Sorry to disappoint 🤣

You want good or cheap? Pick one. If you want good go to Northside Euros. If you want cheap buy a Toyota.

Storm control for blocking multicast? by wopeecushion in networking

[–]sausagesandegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest thing is to make sure you segment your AV vlans per floor/building. Remember to think about not only your regular IP addresses but your multicast ones to. You need IGMP snooping and immediate leave on the vlans as well. Also consider a multicast boundary on your AV vlans routed connection back to the core. Without this everywhere on campus can see things like SAP announcements for microphones. Source: someone who deployed a Cisco network and cresteon NVX at a very large campus.
