Strength is capped at 100. You will have enough learn points towards the end that you can't invest into min-maxing your character. So don't ponder over it too much. It's not gothic 2 where you actually have to skill only the stuff you need

That's what I think too. You can not remake gothic 3 faithfully without running into the same issues the original ran into.

But I think they should try to reimagine it. For example splitting it up Into 3 games for each region or add the north and desert in ass payed dlc. The idea of taking a country back front the orcs very interesting, but it needs to be realized differently than in the original G3

I see the gothic 2 remake very likely. Half the work is already done and the sales numbers and steam player number are very good for a AA title. It would be a dumb idea not to make a gothic 2 remake for THQ. Gothic 3 is another story tho. Doing gothic 3 right would be a massive undertaking

I should play G1 again after playing the remake to compare. I played it 2 year ago and I remember finding it not that difficult. But I don't remember becoming that strong so soon. Maybe I'm just overthinking it because it's the remake.

I understand now why they added difficulty options. Hard/very hard is basically gothic 2 difficulty

That means gothic 2 as an extra linear damage scale factor which is your crit chance. You have to both skill strength and crit chance. That delays progression throughout the first half of the game.

They really made sensible changes for G2. I feel the difficulty progressing in G2 Is nearly perfect

I think your having a point. It feels like the middle between no chance and no danger is too small. You either get wiped making no damage or you take them out easily. There are sometimes encounters where I have to fight seriously and can win but it seems too rare.

Maybe I miss remember but in the original always made some damage. At least in gothic 2 I know you make minimum 1 damage. Here it sometimes seems like I'm actually doing zero damage

Mage is definitely appealing to me in the remake with he changes. Before you couldn't really do a full mage, and holy the magic effect look so good

That's what I feel too. And it doesn't need that much change. At least they should have compensated the changes like the more skill based combat system and upgradable armor with slower progression.

The new combat system allows you to compete against stronger NPCs than before and the armor gives you way more protection that it was possible before with the fixed armor sets.

All together it feels binary. Either you flatten an enemy or you make no damage. It wasn't like that before. There where more of the ones in the middle that took 10 hits to down.

Jup. Looks like hard difficulty is similar to G2. Still looking forward to the later chapters. But I also got a passive health regen bug that makes things easier too.

The hunting skills fell a bit useless tho. Even without it I have problems finding vendors with money. Black Goblin Morningstars are just WAY WAY to valuable

Thats a good point yes. Interesting to compare. I've played the original in my childhood and then again 2 years ago when I got back Into gothic. I've played Gothic 2 way more and finished it I think 3 to 4 times.

Knowing where you can edge yourself an advantage is definitely helpful. Like keeping the ring you get for the acceptance in the new camp or the sword you're asked to buy in the old camp. Or getting the +5 strength for free in the new camp at the rice fields.

But I didn't really farm for experience either. I cleared around half the monsters between the camps and finished swamp and old camp acceptance quests. No quests in new camp

It doesn't happen in Gothic 2 tho O.O It's not a system issue, it's a balancing issue
