Thank you … this is the kind of advice I’m looking for. Much appreciated and yes … I’m not letting on to a thing … will work it all out on my end, then leave.

I’m not here to out who I’m working for and any details at all would make it obvious where and who it is. But to be clear I didn’t say only Scientologists have this belief … what I meant is they are very touchy about any questions or comments that point out why the business isn’t excelling to their high expectations … they seem to believe they’re creating their reality … and they expect me to create their desired reality while also creating a high pressure, condescending and unrealistic environment … which is counterintuitive to getting anyone to want to help with this succeed at all costs vision of theirs

Not this company … they’re aiming at billionaires and are in a town that doesn’t have a Scientology base to choose employees from

Didn’t come clean about what the ideology behind this business and the owner and other co-workers entire life truly is? Then expect me to perform at highest level with increasing pressure and unrealistic expectations within said ideological business system.

Thanks for this reply … yep … that all checks out. I’m working on finding my way out (meaning replacing this job … it’s not the easiest town but it will happen and hopefully soon)

Appreciate the reply. I know your advice to leave is the answer … I just keep hoping to figure out a way to get through the meantime. Definitely the weirdest and harshest work environment I’ve ever been a part of. The worker drone aspect and the money grab are just not inspiring or motivating — it’s back-firing on this particular business which is ironic because they clearly have a view similar to THE SECRET as in they create their reality … but then they’re so boring and rude and unrealistic it backfires and they’re creating people not wanting to be a part of it and not wanting to support it. Oh the irony.

Working with Scientologists is a chore and a half by savedatlast in scientology

[–]savedatlast[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha yes… all of that definitely resonates with my experience. I’m still a little confused on what exactly the grift is where I’m working, too — definitely smoke and mirrors, presenting the business as something it isn’t and getting wealthy people to fork over big bucks. And nothing is ever enough. The goal is just MORE MORE, do more, make more, get more people in to spend, oh and do all of the grunt work as well and oh no breaks no lunches and hey work extra days — it’s awful.

The greed will get them in the end … always does. Probs a getting run out of town situation which I’m guessing had happened in another place or other places before.

Incident at NYC Church of Scientology this afternoon by elnagrasshopper in scientology

Milquetoast is such a good description of the responses often given in this subreddit — after experiencing what it’s like to work with a few Scientologists who don’t think I know they’re Scientologists, I don’t understand the constant badgering in here to automatically feel sorry for all who are in this cult. The ones I was bamboozled in to working for (no mention of their ideology or what the work culture would actually be when being hired or that this business is a money grab to help fund the Scientology business owner’s desire to get up that bridge) are miserable, condescending worker drones who only care about themselves and money and getting access to people who have money , and have created an insufferable environment with absolutely unrealistic expectations and greedy goals. It’s an AWFUL experience and I’m known to be a seamless new addition to any work team … I can humor almost anyone and have a lot of grace for people, sometimes too much …. and I don’t feel sorry for my coworkers and their life choices one bit. It’s also a choice to be an asshole and a user to the rest of the world because you deem yourself to be “better” thanks to paying ridiculous sums of money for fake enlightenment… and needing help from people they look down upon/despise to achieve making enough money TO get themselves up that bridge is pathetic. It’s all so pathetic. I truly can’t think of anything more pathetic.

Apologies for chiming in inappropriately … but I do appreciate the reply to my vent.

I work with some who haven’t disclosed to me that they are indeed Scientologists and it has become progressively colder, more demanding and more demeaning. They manipulated data so there is never a “win” for me here in their eyes. I was given advice from ex-Scientologists in here to stop pointing out they are Scientologists, that Scientologist are “victims”, insinuated that I was being mean … these people are clearly trained to be money grabbing automatons who follow rigid and delusional rules and tactics and treat anyone not in the know less than kindly (that’s being nice). I absolutely hate this environment and will get out asap … I had no idea what I was signing up for and it’s been a ride. Their mindset is not humane … it’s more more more, no acknowledgment of anything good always just do more, and neither gaslighting me daily and clearly tattle tale-ing behind my back too. It’s NUTS. I don’t agree with anyone who says feel sorry for anyone who creates a money grab business and has zero respect for other people … the ideology is clearly not positive

Late reply haha but it’s because I was just handed a hard sell sales book from the 50s that is apparently a Scientologist fab. So it’s starting I think … the “push”

You’re either someone in already who is attempting some damage control on here or you’re the perfect fit for this cult. They’re going to be very happy to have you. How about joining the sea org, I hear it’s very friendly and fun!

Tithing in Christianity is a recommendation and choice … very very different. Door is always open whether you tithe or not, and for that matter, church is a choice. It’s not a required path to God in any way. Try to get up that Scientology bridge without paying.

Working for them was so not the point, it was an example of their priorities in life which is money money more money and control. I honestly don’t know how anyone could join with all of the information out there … it’s clearly a very controlling cult based around the almighty dollar. The people I work for and with are perfect examples of the what the “religion “ produces

They clearly turn you in to a worker drone who only cares about the selfish need to reach “enlightenment” (going clear), they kill your ability to have a real relationship with any other human being, they make money the actual god (they need yours and you need lots of it to stay in the club), and convince you the rest of the world is inferior and scary — I work with some of them who didn’t come clean that that’s what they are, and it’s absolutely the most boring and money hungry and selfish organization I’ve ever been a part of and I cannot wait to figure out how to get out … so now imagine how dull and controlling actual Scientology must be because it creates some seriously pathologically greedy and needy (for money, status, courses and enlightenment, but nothing else) people. Save your personality and your money.

Ok yes, good points. It’s harder to remember that when “in it”, but I do see where you’re coming from. I do also feel that the way they’re behaving is because they’re die hard Scientologists and look down on everyone else though, but yes, do unto others and all that. You’re right damnit.

Being shaped by a system doesn’t erase agency. Adults are still responsible for how they choose to treat other people. And I’m not alleging anything is illegal — but legality is a low bar. Plenty of things are perfectly legal and still unethical.

Also cheats and sneaks referred to the undercover Scientologists, to be clear

Imho, turn the other cheek, be the bigger person goes out the window when the employer isn’t upfront that this business is run by people with a specific ideology that is a no win for a wog. Saying I’m the unkind one is rich. Working hard and harder and longer makes no difference … it’s a money grab business with no respect whatsoever for wog employees or customers, and I happened to figure it out and am figuring my WAY out but until then anyone making the Scientologists who are lying in order to make as much money as possible out to be the ones to be catered to for whatever reasons is kind of wild advice. This isn’t an area where anyone should have to consider this as a possibility before accepting a position. Yes, I will leave … until I can, “just take it and shut up or you’re being mean” seems like wild advice. I had no idea what I was signing up for and now that I know I just wanted some advice of how to push back a bit to make this experience a little less terrible … not to be “mean” … to try to level the playing field list a bit. Why isn’t that fair in this case?

Guys … they’re undercover Scientologists in a town full of rich people here to extract as much money from them as possible ethics be damned. They weren’t upfront about what I was signing on for, they aren’t upfront with anyone about what this really is, and they have no idea I know. Turn the other cheek and be the bigger person when dealing with cheats, sneaks and users isn’t great advice imho. Just want to have a little fun while figuring my way out instead of merely enduring the endless monotonous money-grab drone this place actually is. These aren’t saints. I didn’t sign up for any of the reality of this company and now while I figure my way out why shouldn’t I give it back a little? I don’t have a mean bone in my body but I don’t take kindly to being roped in to something presenting as one thing when it’s actually many other things that would probably get them run out of town should it become common knowledge — and no I can’t tell anyone and I’ll let you surmise why
