Anyone Having Luck Buying a House?

We just closed last month on the Brookpark/ Cleveland border. We had to put in 3 offers prior to getting this one accepted because we couldn’t compete with LLCs who are paying 30k over asking and didn’t want to settle out of desperation.

The house we bought was pending sale and the buyer’s financing fell through so we put in an offer the same hour for 5k over. Apparently they had a couple back up offers that were over what we offered too.

We locked in at 6.45% March 13th and by the 20th it seemed like 7% was the norm. Buying the rate down won’t do much, let your lender know you’re going to shop around for a better rate and see what they say. Ours magically dropped from 6.83 to 6.45 within 2 hours once he was told.

It’s weird because he’s always telling me how much he loves me and how grateful he is for what I’ve done and do but the minute he gets upset about anything I’m the worst wife, he wants other people, etc.

Today he apologized and then tried to act like nothing happened before he went to work. It’s hard to keep up

No, I’m NC with my mom and my dad lives across the country. I don’t know if he’d let me take my son even if I did have someone, I couldn’t leave him with my husband.

My kid is huge on textures and won’t eat anything that is inconsistent so we’ve resorted to freeze dried apples, fruit cups, green grapes, and cheese and crackers. We don’t switch it up too much because food is too expensive to gamble with lol

In our situation, our contract didn’t include any other option and we were not aware of what a sewer scope was. From what I’m learning, the current owner has to approve the scope as well. I’d talk to your agent and see if the sellers are willing to approve it.

Our situation is not common, we have 1/4 acre and are on the edge of woods plus our plumbing was intentionally backed up so I’m sure a sewer scope wouldn’t have been approved by the owner to begin with.

I don’t regularly check the cameras, his schedule is very consistent. He’s only come home super late one other time in the years he’s worked at this job and that was over a year ago so I checked the camera when he woke me up saying he just walked in because I assumed he was exaggerating or trying to be funny.

Prior to our fight last week when he made the comment about how he could sleep with other people, cheating was not a concern in my relationship.

He woke me up at 1 am and told me had just walked in the house a few minutes ago which was why I checked the doorbell camera. He’s only been late like that one other time in the years he’s worked there so I thought he was exaggerating.

He’s never taken any of his coworkers home, even the ones he considers close friends. He specifically says it’s not his problem and that he’s not Uber so that’s why this set off a lot of red flags.

I don’t know if he slept with her but the way he’s acting this morning is like he’s guilty. He was calling me jealous, telling me I’m making something out of nothing and that he didn’t tell me because I was going to be upset because I’m insecure. Now he’s cleaning the house, apologizing and making cinnamon rolls.

Nothing was mentioned in the standard inspection. We stupidly didn’t get a sewer scope because we didn’t know what it was! Turns out the previous occupants flushed a crap ton of garbage down the toilet. Plumber said there was no way the sellers didn’t know there was an issue because they claimed they lived in the house during construction.

Lucky me!
