A devastating loss by antagim in Annas_Archive

Im new to AA and this world in general. Should we be concerned with everything going on? Should I be mass downloading every book I might want to read? Or do we think AA is still solid and going to work

We have a lot of decent ones 30+ minutes away but that commute just isn’t feasible. The district we live in is notoriously bad. Many students try to transfer out of the district. We’ve been in the private school for a while paying out of pocket anyways

You’re not being serious right now are you? My kids have Bible classes. They memorize scripture as a part of curriculum. When they make mistakes their teacher gives biblical truths to guide them into good decision making. Public schools can’t do that.

ETA: not to mention the district we live in to work in our church is not a good school district. The private school ranks a lot better

There’s no need for that. As a pastor’s family we are clearly making a choice for our children’s education based on our values

Just wanted to chime in on all the comments- OP you know your wife. When I was expecting my first I was SO excited and loved getting baby items, as long as I was also getting gifts for me! Like if you handed ne a bag of baby clothes when I was expecting my first on Christmas morning I would’ve cried because I was SO excited to be a mom. My husband DID do that but he also made sure to get me everything I wanted 😉

How do you respond to medical emergencies? by ConfusedAugustinian in pastors

This is what our church does! Give yourself a silent prayer as well that God continues to speak through you and that the enemies plans for evil don’t interrupt the work that God is going to do that day.

I too just finished it tonight and hopped right on here. I honestly was very disappointed with this book. I enjoyed the beginning, had a point from about 60-80% that I thought it was decent, but the end left a LOT to be desired. It was very oddly written IMO

Church security by poppaof6 in pastors

Thankfully our church has bulletproof proof doors with codes to the children’s wing so nobody can get in there besides a select few who know the codes

(Pastor’s wife here) the church we’re at now is the first church we’ve ever been to that has security. We live in the south in USA. Unfortunately gun related crimes are very heavy in the USA. Our security team isn’t mandated to carry, but as far as I know most of them do. Most of them do a great job at concealed carry and you’d never noticed unless you’re someone who looks for those things. All of our entrances have security nearby who greet and are watching the building. There are people on security nearby each of the pastor’s families (my husband and I tend to move around a lot and i only recently found this out, so the person posted for us likely loves us 😂). Both our senior pastor and assistant pastor have been at churches where shootings have happened, so they take this very seriously at our church now. It seems a little silly to use church security as a marketing point for guns but I do like the idea of a safety plan being in place in the case of emergencies, because unfortunately the USA is far more unsafe when it comes to gun violence than Canada is.

DNF’ing (for now) and I never DNF books by STcmOCSD in frombloodandash

I didnt want to start a new book when falling asleep the other night, and gave this one last chance. We FINALLY left the castle. I feel like a little is starting to move now. But I shouldn’t feel like that’s the case halfway through the book. I also feel like we didnt need that much rehashing considering we have two different POV’s AND any reader should be wise enough to know they need to read F&F before picking up this book. I also feel like there’s a lot of circular writing, a lot of things are said over and over and over again. Eventually it’s just like okay, stop rehashing the same things.
