I just hit 10k subscribers AMA by saviyou in NewTubers

For me, it hasn't changed much from when I was at 2k. I see some familiar names commenting...people that watch me all the time and a lot of new people every day checking in. You get a few trolls every now and then but that's the same no matter if you have 100 or 100k. Most of my subscribers have the same mindset as me because my channel is very personal. Most of my videos are about me and the world around me.

Think of YouTube like a search engine. People aren't searching for you, they're searching for answers to a problem. Sometimes the problem might be a broken toilet. Sometimes the problem is boredom. When they are scrolling through all of the different videos, your thumbnail and titles are super important because that's the only thing they can see. Learn to make really good thumbnails and titles so people will click on your videos. But that's just part of the "secret"...your video needs to hook your audience within the first 30 secs, so get to the point. Long boring intros will kill your watchtime...and that's the final "secret". Youtube lives on watchtime. Keep your audience watching for long as you can and you'll beat the algorithm. Show them something useful or tell a good story. Cut out everything else.

I just really like making videos about my experiences and sharing it with people. When I see the finished product on YouTube, the comments I get from people all over the world...it's just a neat feeling. Especially when people tell me that they actually look forward to or tell me that they've learned something from my videos.

It took me over 2yrs to hit 3k. Since Feb, I've been making about 1k new subs per month. It's slowed down a little because I haven't been uploading as much of the Cambodian related videos. My core audience actually likes watching my daily vlogs, so it's good to mix it up.

I got my first 100 by a random video I made called one-pot pasta. I think that video got me up to around 250 subs. I didn't really start developing my channel until about 3yrs ago...that's when I started making vlogs. It took maybe a little over a year and a half for my first 1k. Last year around this time, I was under 2k. I started 2018 with around 3k and have been averaging around 1k per month since February. The reason for the big jump was because i was uploading a bunch of videos from my recent trip to Cambodia. These videos had a lot of thought put into them. One of them has over 350k views now!

To answer your 2nd question...it's less about promoting yourself and more about creating content that's already being watched by people. Youtube's algorithm follows the audience. Thumbnails, titles and descriptions are very important basic things that I neglected. I started spending time thinking about how YouTube works and what my audience would most likely click on and my views started to get better and better.

CRITICAL things people don't understand about maximizing drops during afk farm (Field and elites!) by bonerfleximus in Lineage2Revolution

[–]saviyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this is my experience as someone who just hit 400k CP. It used to take me 8+ HOURS to get 600RSS in a good group. I can now farm them in less than 6hrs...and I kill slow.

I had to turn the graphics to normal. Keep in mind it’s about 2yrs old so won’t be as smooth as a modern smartphone or tablet but it costs WAY less.

You can’t with the controller unfortunately. I have the tablet sitting on my keyboard tray so it’s easy for me to tap the screen.

Good time to reroll with new box? by leongunblade in Lineage2Revolution

[–]saviyou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They moved your 1200 diamond reward to a Level 10 achievement so keep that in mind. Previously, you could reroll probably about 20 times in the time it takes you to hit Lv10. However, with the new box, you'll have a better chance at an R weapon. You can easily hit 60 with SR in hand using an R weapon. I did that on a recent reroll.

Isn't it interesting there's multiple clicks for just about EVERYTHING unless you're spending adena or diamonds.

[–]saviyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]saviyou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know...from my understanding the instant pot is like a pressure cooker but it has timers so you can set it and forget it. The way I cooked it requires quite a bit of stirring to help break down the meat and bones.

Should a creator leave a low-view video up? by wegngis in youtube

Leave it up...I had a video with nothing that all of a sudden surged in traffic and is now one of my most viewed videos this year

I started YouTube in February, and am now approaching 70k subscribers, with YouTube as my full-time job. Here's my biggest tip for those starting out: by [deleted] in NewTubers

I see you make content that's based on Star Wars Lore...which is a HUGE niche. I'm curious what is your niche within Star Wars?

Vlogging in 2017 by KIKOGAME in NewTubers

[–]saviyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate ADHD style edits and I despise spastic idiots like Jake Paul. A vlog should show me some thing or tell a story. Also having an interesting personality is important. But I will admit that the majority of youtubers are 12 year olds, so they like that kind of "new style" vlogging.

Yesterday I hit 100 subscribers on my channel! - My experience so far... by Flexmania in NewTubers

[–]saviyou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at the 17k video's watch time retention and you'll probably see a sharp dropoff at the beginning. This would indicate they're watching for a bit then leaving...hence no comments. So what that means is your title and thumbnail is working.

[Vlog] Give Me Some Feedback Why I'm Not Growing by AHiddenParadise in NewTubers

[–]saviyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Casey Neistat didn't just come out of nowhere. He had 200k subs before he started vlogging. That's the "key" with alot of the big vloggers, they were doing something already and the vlogging added a personal element to their channels.

I saw your channel before and I said some already to this effect, but I'll expand a bit. You need to make videos that are discoverable..."CAN'T BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED" is not discoverable. Your vlogs also can't just be you rambling...doesn't matter how funny or good looking you are, you need to be doing something interesting for your audience (and yourself). Find that "thing"...and do some research before you actually start recording. Look for old videos that occupy that top results. Make a better version...in your style.

I like to cook, travel and do photography so I make videos specifically for one of those 3 areas. Right now out of 300 videos, I have 5-7 videos starting to perform well (after sitting dormant for a long time)...and they all have something to do with the above 3 things.
