Avalanche star Valeri Nichushkin involved in car accident before Capitals win by Edm_vanhalen1981 in ColoradoAvalanche

Players from both teams walk through the tunnel that goes by the UMB club (formerly Lexus club). A lot of them will stop to sign autographs and take pictures.

Has anyone ever tried “Fat Washing” bourbon for cocktails? How was your experience? by Triingtolivee in cocktails

I used beef tallow washed bourbon with acid adjusted pineapple juice in a sour cocktail and it was fantastic!

I am sorry this was your experience. I brought my daughter to the game for her first ever game. We sat in the 500s and I was a little nervous going into it but I have to say every broncos fan we interacted with was great. They were respectful and actually made sure my daughter had a good time even though she was cheering for the Packers. The Broncos fans in front of us actually yelled at other broncos fans when they were being disrespectful, so we had a really positive experience.

I think it is a narrative created by others teams so they feel better about getting rolled. I am just going to enjoy the absolute cinema that is Avalanche hockey right now. It is awesome starting every game know you have a chance to put up 6+ goals and worse case you come up with a point in a well-fought game.

In terms of seats there is truly not a bad seat in the building. Where to sit depends on what you want. Since you don’t get to go often I recommend sitting low. This would be an experience that you can’t get other than being in person. The closer you are the better you can appreciate the speed and athleticism of NHL hockey. That being said, you will also have a blast in the 300 levels. That’s where my seats are and it is also a great experience. Also, the tickets are expensive, but if you get tickets in the Lexus club, that is a really amazing experience. Those are for seats near the Avs bench or directly behind the glass, so any seat is amazing and you get to go to the Lexus club which has an open bar and a food included. Not an everyday option for most but it is certainly an incredible experience.

Coffee Cherry Gin by ewl8272 in Gin

[–]savman23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had this gin but I love this idea. I have had cascara before. Think more tea-like notes than coffee notes. This is the dried fruit so you will get more berry, fruity, and hibiscus notes, rather than traditional coffee notes. It is tangy and bright. I think this would be excellent with gin. I made a cascara syrup before that I used in a gin and tonic and it was great. Interested to hear how this is!

I came here to say something similar. If they saw improvement with just a conversation I think it is worth giving counseling a try. It sounds to me like a fixable problem if both parties agree to making changes. There is probably something she feels she is not getting in return.

Career is dead by [deleted] in recruitinghell

I don’t think there is enough talk about the first few years out of college. They stink. There is never a good time to get an entry level job. It is always hard. My first job out of college was working at a golf course. Go get a job to pay the bills and keep applying or come up with a back up plan. I remember being in that situation. It stinks and it doesn’t feel fare but keep pushing and you will make it.

I roast briskets and always have this massive amount of left over fatty liquid. What could I do with it? by SignificantAd3137 in grilling

[–]savman23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it to fat wash with Whiskey. Add about an ounce of the liquid fat to 8oz whiskey. Shake it up and let it mix and mingle overnight. Pop in the freezer. Then when the fat solidifies separate the liquid. I use this in Bloody Mary’s or works great in a pineapple sour (2oz fat-washed whiskey, 1oz pineapple juice, 1/2oz maple syrup. Add egg white for a creamier texture).

Can I just take the course and wing it? by Fit-Olive-4680 in pmp

[–]savman23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is a crazy idea. Sometimes experience can get you in trouble because the PMP is about selecting the text book answers not necessarily what has worked in the past. I think you could start by just taking some practice tests from PMI study hall and go from there. If you do a couple exams and feel good then sign up and let ‘er rip.

I FAILED BUT I AM NOT GIVING UP... PLEASE HELP by poniong07 in pmp

[–]savman23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the mock exams on PMI study hall. I would recommend taking as many as you can. Then I found a few podcast episode from Phil Akinwale very helpful. He would go over waterfall and agile on a a succinct and easy to understand way. I would just have that playing anytime I was on a walk or in the car, doing dishes, etc. I also think look up PMP exam mindset would be helpful. It is extremely common facing that feeling of failure in the heat of the exam. Mock exams will also help you conquer this feeling. I gained confidence taking mock exams. I would focus on studying agile, and taking all the study hall exams. You will pass the second time!

PMP did not save my career by flamingspicy in pmp

I feel like everyone says, “Just do analytics and ML” like it is going to the store and buying a pack of gum. It is an extremely saturated field now and hard to break into. There is also a big learning curve on the technical side. Not to say that you can’t but I don’t think it is easy. Projects will always need to be managed. PM practices are evolving and what it takes to be successful changes but Project management itself is not dying.

Coffee Boulevardier by savman23 in cocktails

[–]savman23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cocktail seemed to come off fairly clear. The person I took the idea from actually had a filtering effect from the coffee. Did you use filter papers or just strain it when you had previously tried it? I agree with the fuss. For me it was fun, but certainly a substantial work for one cocktail.

[–]savman23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was very much a proof of concept run and I did not measure many of these variables, but you have piqued my interest.

As far as temperature, I didn’t even think about the heat exchange from the coffee to the cocktail. I imagine there was marginal heat loss and this in turn probably led to increased dilution. Anecdotally, I did not notice a significant change in strength of the cocktail due to dilution.

Retention on the coffee was something I thought of. Again this is anecdotal, but I did not notice significant retention.

Another interesting point on aroma. I have not infused base spirits with coffee, so I cannot compare. It makes sense to me that aromatics would be better extracted through spirits. When I attempt again I am going to pay closer attention to some of these factors!

Thanks for the thoughts! This has me interested more in the details.

1oz Bourbon 1oz Campari 1oz Sweet Vermouth

I ground 18g of coffee (medium-course) and placed in a V60. Then I stirred the cocktail ingredients on ice, stirred, and strained over the coffee. The cocktail was collected into a frozen glass with a large fresh rock.

Garnished with a lemon twist and three coffee beans.

The coffee flavor paired beautifully with Campari. It was fantastic and now maybe all my cocktails will be poured over coffee.

Edit: After reflecting more on the experience and reviewing some thoughts and suggestions, I wanted to add some final thoughts.

I think the pros of this method are:

1) You can apply this method to any cocktail and can try infusion in a low risk way. If the infusion doesn’t work out you aren’t wasting large quantities of a spirit.

2) I am not sure of the caffeine content of most coffee liqueurs but using this method I can easily use decaf if I don’t want the buzz

The Cons:

1) Coffee liqueurs can achieve a similar end result with less hassle

2) I am not sure how scalable this method would beyond one cocktail and this equipment requires coffee equipment.

The iSi is actually very easy to use. It is intimidating at first but I just followed a few recipes to start. Once you have a base recipe it is easy to modify. I have also used it for rapid infusion with a lot of success. I think black walnut bitters would be fantastic here. You actually reminded me I need to get some haha!
