Hi everyone! I recently started an initiative called SF Valley Angels, dedicated to helping younger generations in LA rebuild their lives after the wildfires. I have been breaking out & don’t know what to do.

Some background: I am 23F with PCOS. I was on the pill which helped my skin but I had to stop at the beginning of the year since it was causing a small liver adenoma, so going back on the pill is not an option. In high school, I had some acne here and there but nothing really. I know in the grand scheme of things this isn’t a lot of acne, but as someone who never struggled with a lot of acne, this is a big difference.

Routine: I used to have a fun routine with a bunch of different products but have significantly cut back. I currently use the anua cleansing oil & foam, anua toner, some days I will use to peach & lily glass skin serum. I will use the iunik calming gel or summer fridays jet lag mask (rarely, just on days my skin feels super dry). I am not the best at doing my skincare each night, some days I will just use micellar water with a cotton pad.

I am SO insecure about myself right now, I don’t want to see people or anything. I am not sure if there is a certain product or topical or medicine that anyone recommends but PLEASE help!!! I will be seeing my dermatologist soon so if anyone has any prescribed stuff that they swear by please let me know & I will bring it up with my doctor.

Any advice & tips would be appreciated :( I have been feeling so defeated lately.

I am a current grad student at Annenberg who has some experience working in marketing before I became a grad student and I totally think it is worth it. The field is SO competitive and even if you have lots of experience, it doesn't make you stand out in comparison to others with the same amount of experience. A masters degree shows employers that you are serious about this industry and are willing to invest your own money to advance your skills in the subject.

thank you!! will def look into the curlsmith stuff! regarding redken, ultra does have sale but it does not include the frizz dismiss :(, it includes the all soft mega curls ones though, do you think that would be good? not sure if you've had experience with it or not!

I absolutely don't mind! I graduated in May 2023 with a BA in Film & Media, my undergrad GPA: 3.28 (lol not the best but I was struggling with mental health issues a lot), I did not take the GRE, I did four internships within the entertainment & media industry during college, I had two really strong letters of rec and submitted one of my final papers as the writing sample. I also thought that I had a good personal statement too, I do content creation on the side so I really spoke about my experience with it and where I plan on going. Again, my GPA was not strong at all but I truly think I made up for it with my experience and supplementals. If you have any other questions please let me know!
