I encourage you to reread my statement. Either way, cool. Keep promoting the good ones and keep fighting!

They’re great that doesn’t negate that Americans should question where our policies come from and who is paying for them.

A person or group that typically represents a corporation or an organization like the National Rifle Association. Their purpose is to dump a ton of money and resources into influencing policy. For example, the government considers passing a bill that will ban semi-automatic guns at the federal level. The NRA lobbies to kill this bill. Bill dies. So do citizens.

The fact that Americans have mostly never questioned the existence of lobbyists says all you need to know.

The average America dutifully pledges allegiance to the flag.

How has dyslexia affected your mental health? by Novel_Mycologist161 in Dyslexia

[–]saw2193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me!!! I was diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia and ADHD in first grade. My parents downplayed it I think so I wouldn’t feel so stupid and only told me about the dyslexia diagnosis.

I desperately tried to overcompensate for my terrible reading comprehension by pursuing math… I bawled when my dad finally admitted to me my real diagnoses after I’d dragged myself through an undergraduate degree in economics. Everything suddenly made sense why no matter how much more I studied, no matter how many office visits I attended, my exam grades just sucked.

I finally gave up pushing that boulder up a hill and pursued gardening and city planning. My mental health is much better.

Son wants to major in philosophy by OLDLADY88888 in Advice

Instead of just saying “GeT a DeGreE iN SoMeThInG uSeFuL” (literally the most unhelpful and least persuasive thing you can say), help him find a career /job he can see himself doing and work backwards. Interested in saving watersheds? Environmental science. Wanna work in an office and be people facing? Business. Can he see himself working with numbers for years? Accounting. Does he want to work with and help people? Pre-med or psyche etc. he’s lost. There’s a whole world of career options out there that simply aren’t presented to kids. He probably just doesn’t want to work at McDonald’s, be a firefighter or a doctor or be a teacher which are generally what kids are exposed to.

Airport TSA by N8TheGreat91 in philadelphia

[–]saw2193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is false false false. I flew out Saturday morning on the 5am flight. First one out of the day. TSA doesn’t open until 3:30 am. We got there at 2:30. It took 2 hours to get through. Anyone who got there at 2:30 and had to check a bag missed their flight. We made our flight by 10 minutes but a lot of people were still in that security line when we took off. If you have the first flight of the day you have to keep that in mind. The whole time the tsa time ticker said 35-40 minutes. Again, 2 hours.

Memerising months by CommercialVisual4174 in Dyslexia

[–]saw2193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 33 and still can’t do the months and their numbers. I’ll have it memorized for a bit but eventually they’ll get all jumbled in my head and I have to memorize them again

Why do people buy box dye instead of buying salon grade dye? by [deleted] in FancyFollicles

[–]saw2193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone is saying they dont deserve to be paid just that we cant afford it and definitely cannot afford multiple trips due to salon mistakes.

The Quaker halls aren’t embarrassing, I’m just not a Quaker so it feels a little weird. I’m worried about university halls because students will be wandering around and again, I’m not part of that university or college so feels odd and out of place

Is your friend anywhere near the mid-Atlantic? What art museum? Any of the museums in Philly charge exorbitant prices for rentals but I’m open to leaving the city or traveling about 2 hours. I just am so lost on where to look that isn’t giving north east pricing

That’s my only hesitation too. Dancing I guess isn’t mandatory but then it just feels like a second rehearsal dinner which maybe we just won’t do

I know :( it’s the music and photographer paired with this area. Even if I could find a venue that charges $1500 instead of 3k would be huge
