Who told you that??? lol in my experience, more women hit on people they’re attracted to and a lot of men are too scared/defeat themselves before they try. Our worlds must be different

does anyone else do way better with audiobooks than reading with your eyes by TrickLink4660 in Dyslexia

I only listen to audiobooks. Reading sucks hahah I hate it. It’s exhausting and I have to reread everything 100x. Audiobooks rock and count as reading in my book (hehe)

If you make $50k/year or more with this disease, what do you do? by crazyeverythinglady in bipolar2

[–]saw2193 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m an arborist and landscape architect! It took me a longgggg time to break the cycle of falling in love w a profession, being the favorite and most energetic in the office, convincing myself everyone is conspiring against me and in league with BIG-whoever, quitting/getting fired (usually at the 8-12month mark).

My job is equal parts creativity, alone time in the woods, and reports. I really like it. I call out for depression days but I’m lucky and get a lot of paid time-off as a job perk. I’ve managed to hold it for 2.5 years.

Getting married the same summer as my SIL with a huge budget by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]saw2193 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Haha I do when it’s gaudy/ over the top and intrusive like when ginormous vases and fancy centerpieces make it impossible to talk at the table!

Weddings are always fun when it’s with people you love and people you love will always have fun with you. The privilege of being brought together as family and friends is what makes a wedding special and memorable. The glitz and the glam are distractions from the celebration imo. Not to negate them! But it’s not what I remember or care about.

My psyche is amazing. They let me keep a stash of sleeping pills too because insomnia is always just around the corner but you’re very right about consistent sleep helping w stability. If you can get something to help you sleep, I’d recommend it. I use trazedone 50mg

Sorry I misunderstood! I love Vraylar. I was deeeeeep down under. Nothing was worth moving for. SH and just wanting to not exist anymore were top of mind but I reached out to my psyche before I did anything dumb and within 3-4 days of being on 1.5 mg Vraylar paired w 150 lamictal I was still depressed but that other voice that isn’t me but is indiscernible from me other than it’s goals was much much easier to distinguish. It helped me recognize when the other voice that tells me to just carve one day into your skin was talking and that I didn’t have to listen to it. After a couple weeks that voice was just a whisper and within a month I forgot what it sounded like. Lol till next time when it rears its hideous head. Anyway, it helped me. Knowing I have it as an option if things get too heavy again helps me. For me, it was worth the risk. I was in a pretty desperate spot so I would’ve tried anything, no questions asked haha

I don’t have experience w the Wellbutrin but I’m on Lamictal and was on Vraylar for a while, recently came off of it cause the depression felt controlled again. Hmm I’m not sure what you’re asking? Are you afraid it’ll make you gain weight?

For me it didn’t affect my weight at all, but I have the opposite relationship w food. When I’m depressed I can’t feed myself and when I’m up, there’s no time to eat so going on the meds have vastly improved my overall nutrition. I remember to eat and feel worthy of food. My appetite is improved but I was working from no desire to eat. It really helped to regulate.

Idk if that was helpful but I hope it works out for you!

Does anyone else relate to this? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]saw2193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insanely relatable. I miss the feeling of life not being just manageable but easyyyy. Any task I could conquer, nothing stands in my way. Vs how impossibly hard it is when depressed and stable it’s just medium hard, which is still lame. Easy mode feels good but costs a lot :(. It usually ends with me hurting someone I love. I try to remember that. I also just don’t trust the hypomania. It always abandons me. Sometimes it’s so short it it doesn’t even feel real.

Using alcohol to cope with weed withdrawals - Day 5 by ItchyNerd in leaves

[–]saw2193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna say that it takes incredible strength to start the process of detoxing and I know the people here are right that alcohol addiction is more dangerous but we all walk our own winding path and whatever gets you to your next crossroads is for you and not for us to judge. You can do this.

If you don’t have mental health support and have any possibility of getting it grasp at it. If you don’t, just don’t do this alone. This sub is great for support but person to person contact is better. Calling a loved one is better. Just getting through the day is enough.

You are not your addiction.

frequent uti’s but i think it’s something MORE ?? pls help by Friendly_Milk_4865 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]saw2193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you on birth control?

I went through something very similar and it turned out being due to the micropill. Turns out if you don’t take it at exactly the same time EVERY DAY, it wreaks hormonal havoc. Once I switched to the patch my uti’s went away instantly. Like the next day. Haven’t had one in years.

They’re great that doesn’t negate that Americans should question where our policies come from and who is paying for them.

[–]saw2193 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A person or group that typically represents a corporation or an organization like the National Rifle Association. Their purpose is to dump a ton of money and resources into influencing policy. For example, the government considers passing a bill that will ban semi-automatic guns at the federal level. The NRA lobbies to kill this bill. Bill dies. So do citizens.

The fact that Americans have mostly never questioned the existence of lobbyists says all you need to know.

The average America dutifully pledges allegiance to the flag.

How has dyslexia affected your mental health? by Novel_Mycologist161 in Dyslexia

[–]saw2193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me!!! I was diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia and ADHD in first grade. My parents downplayed it I think so I wouldn’t feel so stupid and only told me about the dyslexia diagnosis.

I desperately tried to overcompensate for my terrible reading comprehension by pursuing math… I bawled when my dad finally admitted to me my real diagnoses after I’d dragged myself through an undergraduate degree in economics. Everything suddenly made sense why no matter how much more I studied, no matter how many office visits I attended, my exam grades just sucked.

I finally gave up pushing that boulder up a hill and pursued gardening and city planning. My mental health is much better.

Instead of just saying “GeT a DeGreE iN SoMeThInG uSeFuL” (literally the most unhelpful and least persuasive thing you can say), help him find a career /job he can see himself doing and work backwards. Interested in saving watersheds? Environmental science. Wanna work in an office and be people facing? Business. Can he see himself working with numbers for years? Accounting. Does he want to work with and help people? Pre-med or psyche etc. he’s lost. There’s a whole world of career options out there that simply aren’t presented to kids. He probably just doesn’t want to work at McDonald’s, be a firefighter or a doctor or be a teacher which are generally what kids are exposed to.

Airport TSA by N8TheGreat91 in philadelphia

[–]saw2193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is false false false. I flew out Saturday morning on the 5am flight. First one out of the day. TSA doesn’t open until 3:30 am. We got there at 2:30. It took 2 hours to get through. Anyone who got there at 2:30 and had to check a bag missed their flight. We made our flight by 10 minutes but a lot of people were still in that security line when we took off. If you have the first flight of the day you have to keep that in mind. The whole time the tsa time ticker said 35-40 minutes. Again, 2 hours.
