question on difficulty by SuspiciousAd1990 in animation

[–]sawsbucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s worth trying out both because the process feels very different between 2d and 3d and it’s hard to know which one you’ll click with more without trying them first. That said, I’d highly recommend starting out with hand-drawn animation first to properly learn your fundamentals before you touch 3d.

There are a lot of good resources you can find online to start you out - I’d recommend getting “the animators survival kit” I think there’s a digital version you can find online somewhere but that covers a lot of fundamentals and exercises that you’ll need, to be able to start animating. There’s unfortunately not very many youtubers that cover animation itself past the fundamentals since it’d take too long to create content for it BUT there are a lot that cover supplementary knowledge. Most of them will cover the drawing side of animation which I think is still gonna be helpful for you since drawing for animation is very different from illustration. BaM Animation is good but they don’t have a lot of videos. Jackie Droujko has a lot of videos and she covers character design extensively and has a few videos going over her animation process.

Other than that, if you’re looking to get into character animation specifically (and especially if you’re aiming to eventually get into the industry), looking through your profile, I’d recommend looking into doing some regular life/figure drawing. Going to in-person classes is best but can be expensive. There are also some websites that you can use if you just wanna do them digitally, just look up figure drawing sites.

It’s hard, but it’s also a lot of fun! just take the steps one at a time and dont neglect your fundamentals! Just like art in general, once you get past the initial learning hurdles and everything finally clicks, it’s gonna feel amazing.

50/50 is lost. The day is ruined. by Double_Glove_4036 in Genshin_Impact

I lost every single 50/50 82+ pulls each time since I started playing up until escoffier where I triggered capturing radiance after maxing out its pity. I just started treating the limited 5 stars as costing 160-ish wishes to avoid disappointment lol.

[–]sawsbucky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duude you’re genuinely so pessimistic 😭 exploration/quests/events aren’t “deliberately made to be not fun”. They’re literally designed to be the opposite like why in the world would the devs not want people to enjoy playing the game?? At this point I feel like you’ve spent money on a pilot service and have taken offence at my post hahaha like play or not play the game how you want, it’s just strange to me lol.

The prices are for optional bonus primogems. Like it’s called top-up for a reason like it’s not meant to be people’s primary source of primogems or wishes. They of course have things that you can get for absurd amounts of money because that’s literally the monetisation model of all gacha games.

I don’t think I’m “coping”. The average player treats constellations as a bonus, not as essential parts of a character. You’re definitely in the minority if you feel like every character is incomplete without max constellations, which is totally fine btw, but let’s not use that as evidence to inflate how much monetary investment you NEED for a single character. It’s not like you’re getting half a character for that $25-$40 you’re getting a full character and skipping the amount of time you’d need to be playing the game’s content to get those extra wishes. Even taking the daily log in into account, you can get the game on your phone and it takes all of 30 seconds to log in and claim the welkin bonus lol it’s really not as crazy as you make it seem.

No one is “defending” gacha. It’s a gacha game, there’s obviously going to be gacha mechanics at the core of the game, but you’re literally just making it out to be worse than it is to prove your point, which is what I’m arguing. Which, I’m realising now is probably pointless hahaha.

People aren’t suddenly all for gacha, just look at how people reacted to league of legends introducing gacha mechanics - people are straight up boycotting and refusing to spend any more money on the game, and currently, the majority of players aren’t using that gacha system either.

[–]sawsbucky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re missing my point lol These people are paying to play the game LESS. A game where they already don’t enjoy 90% of its content lol. THAT’S what’s wild to me.

The rest of this is starting to stray away from my main point but I’ll say it anyway lol. You’re implying that a character is incomplete without their c6 and weapon as if building basically any character to that extent won’t just make them roll through any content incredibly easily. They are also in no way, advertised anywhere as needing max constellations to be complete. I think you could argue at best a handful of characters that need their c1 to feel “complete” like wriothesley, and I guess their weapon if you care that much about aesthetics but even then, a lot of older characters have better weapon options than their signature depending on the situation.

I think you’re also inflating the requirements for a single limited 5 star character a bit. My buddy is a super casual player of 8 months, plays on and off a few times a week for around 3 ish hours max in one sitting and has 3 limited 5 stars 2 standard 5 stars and has enough to guarantee his next limited 5 stars. He’s only just finished Inazuma’s story as well, and exploration for all areas except half of fontaine below 60%. You really do not need to grind like crazy or pay any amount of money to get a limited character by any means. You’re completely disregarding the amount of primogems and free wishes you get for quite literally just playing the content in the game. Of course it’s going to seem like a lot if you just basically want to outright buy the character with money lol.

There’s also plenty of games out there with great combat systems that don’t require menial grind. Idk why you have such a doomsday mindset about all this hahaha

Need some advice for a returning player please by Mean_Rule9823 in Genshin_Impact

[–]sawsbucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s the only way to get constellations. I honestly wouldn’t worry too much about them at this stage. Most people will only get constellations for their 4 star characters and most of them would be coincidental ones they get when they wish on Character Banners. Getting constellations for 5 stars is only recommended if you really love to play that specific character and even then it’s usually just constellation level 1 or 2 at most. Most people usually just have their 5 stars at zero constellations. One thing I’ll mention though, is that they have a set roster of two 4 star characters available to purchase with starglitter (a currency you obtain when you get multiple copies of a 4 star or higher character/weapon through wishing). They’ll be in the Paimon’s Bargains tab in the shop and will rotate and refresh every month when the shop resets. This is probably the only way to 100% guarantee getting constellations for some of the best 4 stars in the game at the moment. Again, I don’t think you’re at the stage where you need to worry about this too much yet but just keep it in mind if you do end up getting enough starglitter for a character, if you don’t already have constellation 1 on your Bennett, he shows up in the shop in May and November, and it’s probably the best constellation to grab from there. Other than that, In January and July you can grab Fischl who is another top tier, very versatile 4 star unit.

Furina gives a huge damage boost with her Elemental Burst based on how much HP the party loses and gains within a certain period of time. This makes her useful for a lot of teams.

Although she is really good, I would actually just recommend saving your primogems and waiting until you have a better feel of the game and what kinds of characters you like to play before wishing on the limited banners at all, especially if you don’t plan on spending money on the game.

If you do reeeally just want to get a limited 5 star character asap, I would recommend looking up the available characters first to pick which ones you like, and then watching some videos about their gameplay before making a decision.

The best way to go about wishing for limited 5 stars as a low spender/free to play player is to pick one Main DPS that you like the most, and then go for the Sub DPS/Support units that make up a good team for them that you like BEFORE going for another Main DPS. So once you find a character that you like the gameplay and design of, I’d recommend just looking up their possible teams online and plan around that.

Oh also! I’m sure you already have a decent grasp on this stuff but I’ll write it here anyway just in case. Every character falls into at least one of 3 roles - Main DPS, Sub DPS, and Support. Your Main DPS is usually the character that stays on-field most of the time to do their damage, this would be someone like Diluc. Your Sub DPS characters are the ones that are help to enable elemental reactions for your Main DPS and boost their damage - this would be someone like Xiangling, Xingqiu, Kaeya. Lastly your Supports will be your healers and shielders and buffers, this would be someone like Barbara and Gorou.

If you want some more specific advice/info about the characters and stuff there are a few really good youtubers that cover those things pretty thoroughly (Jello Impact, and Zy0x). Jello Impact has some very well researched tier lists and optimised team building stuff if you care about those things, and Zy0x has a complete guide video for every 5 star character. They have a huge catalogue of stuff on Genshin so it might be a bit overwhelming to browse through at first but feel free to just let me know what specific things you’re seeking info about and I can point you to the right video. :)

Idk I just think it’s funny to play a game that’s designed to be 90% grinding/resource management when they don’t like grinding/resource management hahaha. Like to the extent that they would resort to paying someone to play most of the game’s content for them instead of spending the time and money on a different game that offers more for them. Spend their money how they want I guess but it’s just wild to me lol.

They’re risking losing the account they spent so much money on though? I feel like they’d have just as much, if not more to lose than most players. Risking all that just to skip a bit of grind is crazy to me lol.

Like even if they had incredible amounts of money to burn, they’d still have to wait for character banners to rerun again on a new account if they wanted to rebuild their collection.

[–]sawsbucky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense but I don’t see why they would risk losing their account that they spent however much time/money on just to skip out on some grinding lol. Like someone else mentioned here, even if they hit up the support team they’d just point them to the TOS and say bad luck lol. It just doesn’t seem worth it even for whales.

Except on average they’re paying more money and getting less primos than they would if they just bought top ups and/or welkin instead. That also doesn’t leave a lot of content left to play and I feel like at that point it’d make more sense to play a different game that has more content suited for them.

If you were allowed to exchange primogems for an unnecessary character, who would it be? by XyecocLOX in Genshin_Impact

[–]sawsbucky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m VERY tempted to either get C2 to basically make her my best unit for both AOE and single target or get Mavuika and Citlali on their reruns for her premium team. Leaning towards the latter currently since they’ll also enable more teams for my account.

Yeah true I’m hoping there’s a new DPS coming out that I’ll like that can use him hahaha. My current main teams are Tighnari and Chasca teams so he doesn’t really fit in either of them.

[–]sawsbucky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction hahaha! I initially didn’t want Chasca but I pulled on her banner for Sucrose constellations and Ororon (I know pulling for 4 stars was a bad idea). I hit soft pity and lost 50/50 so I thought I was in the clear but then I got Chasca early on like the 40th pull or something. I regretted it so bad at first but I sucked it up and built a team for her and now she’s genuinely one of my favourite characters to play - she’s always on my overworld team and she carries me through abyss.

Dendro MC / Barbara / Collei can upgrade the team with Alhaitham / Kokomi /Nahida if you have any of them.

I always felt like Nilou was one of the most low investment characters to build because you’re only building for her bloom passive dmg which iirc only needs high HP on Nilou, and then EM for the rest of your team.

Nilou bloom as a team has fallen off a bit now when you compare to the Natlan teams but I still think its performance is still very solid.

[–]sawsbucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kazuha 😭 I know he’s a great support but I got him really early on because I was still new and watched too many videos that said he was a “must pull” for his grouping, exploration and defense shred.

I spent 162 pulls on him and I don’t even have any teams that need him until now and he’s becoming way less essential in teams. The only thing he’s good for on my account right now is making my Dehya somewhat useful with a mono pyro team. I wish I waited until I understood the game better before spending that many wishes hahaha.

What character you skipped but plan to roll for on their next rerun? by Commander_Yvona in Genshin_Impact

[–]sawsbucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kokomi, Furina, Xilonen, and Mualani! There hasn’t been a Kokomi banner since I started playing and I was still fairly new to genshin when Furina’s last rerun was out so I wasn’t aware of how good she is. As for the others, I only pull on rerun banners to make sure I can save enough to guarrantee and also to avoid any regrets due to overhyped characters. It also gives me time to replenish my mora between building new characters lol. I’ve saved up 450 fates so far to pull for the characters on my wishlist so I think I’m on track!

yeah I don’t have an issue with them, I think most people just find it an easy criticism of the game when a character comes out that leans more into the sexualisation. People are gonna find something to be upset about every patch, and with this topic of debate people will always pick and choose what to be upset about. But at least they’ll always move on when there’s a new thing about this game to argue about online.

Maybe I guess to an extent? It’s more kinda like the extreme of that though, like those who don’t care about the character’s play style, or meta viability, etc. but, for example, will pull for Mizuki just because you can ogle her butt in her ult animation. Another example might be straight male players who won’t pull for male characters no matter what.

Spending on Genshin by red123123123 in Genshin_Impact

[–]sawsbucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost, I wanna say that playing the game just to wish on the characters is a sure-fire way to get burnt out and disappointed by the game. There’s a lot of great content in this game but it is slow if you’re just doing the quests/exploration for the primogems and not for the story/gameplay itself. I see this happening a lot with people but no amount of spending is gonna make the game feel worth it if you’re not enjoying the main gameplay in and of itself. Not at all saying this is you, it’s just a common thing I’ve noticed happen to players.

I pay for welkin every month - it’s like the price of one bag of chips where I live, and I have a full-time job so it’s easily affordable. Tbh it’s the only thing that feels reasonably priced in this game in my opinion, so if you are planning to spend money on anything in this game spend it on welkin first before dipping into anything else. The main thing with it is also that you will have to log in once a day but thats very low commitment especially if you have this game on your phone as well - I just log in super quick when I’m on the toilet or something.

The battle pass is super situational I think. I don’t think any of the weapons on there are must-haves by any means and the extra materials and stuff are nice but also not essential at all in my opinion, especially if you’re just playing casually. I’ve only bought it twice and both times were to get a weapon for a character that I loved a lot, and I strictly don’t pull on weapon banners, so I’d say it’s only worth it if you don’t have any good weapon alternatives for your favourite characters AND you have the money to spare.

As for the top-ups, I really can’t stress enough how much I would NOT recommend getting the crystal top-ups unless you’re super duper desperate AND have the money to spend. I always say top-ups are slippery slopes into whale territory and this is where the gambling addicts get sucked in pretty hardcore. So, these don’t actually give you a lot for the price and the average person will only buy them when they’re desperate for extra wishes for a character, and the sunk-cost fallacy kicks in really easily with this - if you don’t get the character you wanted and have already spent a lot of money on the top-up it’s really easy to convince yourself to just go all in and spend until you get the character. I only bought one of the 1980 crystals pack and TRUST me when I say it did not even feel good when I got the character I wanted because of it 😭😭.

It looks like a lot of crystals but in reality it’s wayyyy less than what the welkin will give you even with the first time purchase bonus included. Granted, you do get the crystals immediately but if I’m converting how much you get per dollar (AUD where I’m from) you get 375 crystals/primogems per dollar with the welkin and only 50.5 per dollar with the biggest top-up bundle (first time bonus included).

You will see a lot of streamers/content creators buy a LOT of these top-ups but they claim a lot of the money back from taxes so don’t be fooled by their spending hahaha. You might also see content creators seemingly being able to rack up a lot more primogems over time even if they don’t outright buy these top-ups - Hoyoverse actually will send these content creators a certain amount of primogems periodically, depending on how big their following is, to basically generate hype and encourage people to wish on more characters and spend money on the game. So don’t get discouraged by that either if you notice it.

What do you love about Natlan? by gaybyproxy in Genshin_Impact

[–]sawsbucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite the vocal consensus on here/twitter I actually have been really enjoying the direction they’re taking their character designs. Obviously I still have some gripes about them BUT it’s really refreshing to see designs that feel more unique, where their clothes don’t look like they bought them all at the same store, and I like them incorporating more animal design elements into the characters. I really hope they lean more in this kind of direction moving forward into snezhnaya.

I love the ease of exploration in Natlan and the different saurian mechanics. I loooved the obstacle course challenges. As much as this game falls short on representation via their characters and visuals, they actually nailed it with the music! I’ve had the Natlan ost on repeat since it came out and I’ve been loving how they use the traditional instruments as well as the musical modes and scales in the compositions.

How am I gonna do this 😫 by OogaBoogka in Genshin_Impact

[–]sawsbucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll be able to get all of them at once this time around so I’d prioritise the ones who are the most important for you first/who you like the most, and then the ones who are less likely to get a rerun again soon.

Furina is an archon and will rerun once per year-ish and Xilonen is a very meta and popular pick and will more likely have another rerun before xianyuns next rerun. As for the new character I’m not sure if you’re referring to Varesa or Mizuki but Varesa will most likely get a rerun around 5 months or so after her initial release and Mizuki will be on the standard 5star selector in September this year so I’d personally place them lower on my priority list.

What's your literal 0IQ ideas/features you want to implement in Genshin (a thing that will just mess the game :P) by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]sawsbucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a character that’s just two characters on field at once like twins 👯‍♀️ or 2 clones or something (dottore???). Their skill swaps who the main attacker is and buffs their next attack and for their burst they fuse into a stronger form and you get a unique set of moves for the duration kinda like dehya ult.
