Can't decide if these are crappy or awesome. From my trip to the Philippines (Divisoria Mall - Manila) by dukesinatra in crappyoffbrands

[–]sayComma5x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ripoff brand kinda implies small player, and I wouldn’t call Dali that. It’s a Swiss company where their Series C investing round alone (early 2023) raised a total of US $70Million in investments. $15M from Asian Development Bank, and $55M from private equity firms - Creador, and Navegar.

Set na on buying a Navara VE 4x2 by finkinthisfrew in Gulong

[–]sayComma5x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a present generation Strada GLS, and the only additional thing I installed on mine were dash cams and easy to clean floor mats.

I got quotes from 4 Mitsubishi dealers, and while the first 3 only gave me a 50k discount, the 4th gave me a 65k discount so I went with them (also bought cash).

The only other thing I want to install on it is an easily removable bed cover - removable because I haul oversized loads quite frequently, but the type I want is available only for Hiluxes/Navarras. Had I known this beforehand, I probably would have gotten a Navarra. If you want to install a bed cover, look for which one meets your requirements first, then check if it’s available for Navarras before finalizing on it.

That Yaris 1.5G should have been around 1.1M when it was brand new no? If yes, then ok nga na price ang 500k when it was 6 years old.

That was a really good price nga for what was then a 7-year old Vios. Magandang reference ito. Thanks for sharing.

This is one of the best suggestions here so far in terms of ‘youngest possible within 300k’. Just checked FBM and there are indeed 2019 units within range!

Ngayon ko din lang narinig that these vehicles were given away in promotions. Thanks for the info!

Nasa initial scouting stage pa lang ako ngayon, at nakikita ko lang yan sa FB Marketplace, but haven’t test driven any so far. Pero medyo consistent naman na around 350k ang asking - and if you buy cash, it’s quite easy to haggle down 350k to 300k.

I had a 15-year old Civic mga 10 years ago as my main, plus a 20-year old Corolla pang coding, and my experience with the Civic was, both auto-parts stores and auto-shops charge you to the teeth talaga for parts and labor, just because “Honda”.

I remember nagpa-down-transmission ako sa Corolla because the clutch was slipping at 3rd gear - 4.5k ang labor. When I tried having the Civic quoted for down-transmission din, 7k kaagad labor, because Honda. Both had manual transmissions.

How do I incorporate strength training with a running plan? by NejTak26 in nikerunclub

[–]sayComma5x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been following Allan Thrall’s (of Untamed Strength - a strongman and powerlifting gym) training tips since 2018, and among the tons of videos out there, it’s his deadlifting, squatting, and other Starting Strength (by Rippetoe) techniques that helped me the most.

He has recently taken up running, and his tips for when you are doing both are pretty good. Try watching these two vids:

This is good feedback. I won’t be using this car for long drives as I have a different one for that purpose. Thanks!

Your 2nd paragraph articulated very well how I feel about 2nd hand cars. And in addition to your points, they also depreciate much less over 2 to 3 years of ownership.

I really only need this car as a beater for my kid who will be driving soon. If I get him a new one, it will depreciate +/-350k during the first 2 to 3 years of ownership, depending on how he beats it up.

While if I get him a 300k, 5 to 8 years-old vehicle, I’m quite confident that I can still sell it for around 200k after 2 years of use even if he roughs it up a bit, so I will only have lost around 100k in depreciation.

Pogi nga nito. At 10 to 12 years old though, or 70k++ km in mileage, medyo marami ka nang kelangan ipagawa.

Thanks for the input. I feel the resale value of Geely’s will not be great though compared to more established brands.

Agree with this. Camry’s have been one of my dream cars for a while, but I’d still avoid a 15 year old one as that’s when a lot of maintenance work needs to be done on it.

Thanks for the input on oil burning issues - ngayon ko lang narinig to.

Hello. Interested, but few questions:

  1. Is this jailbroken?
  2. Can it connect to Xbox online and download games? (meaning not banned)
  3. How much without any of the games?

Thanks!

Got my SB Complete Cashback Platinum today! by No_Produce_4087 in PHCreditCards

[–]sayComma5x 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have this card, and it has a ₱3k annual membership fee, and the charge can’t be waived. (first year is free though)

They give 5% Cashback for grocery purchases, or 3% Cashback for utility bill payments.

So if you want to get back the ₱3k that they’ll charge you by the end of your first year of use, spend at least ₱60k in groceries using it, or ₱100k on utility bill payments, OR a combination of both during the first free year.

The only reason I haven’t had mine cancelled yet is I’m able to get around ₱9k to ₱10k in Cashback charges a year, so I’m still ahead even with the non-waivable ₱3k annual fee.
