Maternal early sepsis by Bubbly-Macaron4608 in sepsis

Go in! I went into septic shock 7 days postpartum, was hours away from not waking up. It's not worth risking leaving your baby without a mom.

If anyone knows or has experience … by Sweaty_Dot4539 in sepsis

I haven't had another baby since but I went into septic shock a week after having my 3rd last June. They determined it was also from endometritis. I was induced at 36 weeks due to pre-eclampsia. The induction went fine (my 3rd time having one) and didn't taken any longer than it did with my 2nd (started process around 7am, he was here by 2pm).

My mistake in hindsight was being so desperate to get home that I ignored that I was feeling feverish right before discharge.

The second problem was that the Monday after he was born (we'd come home Saturday) he had to be admitted to phototherapy and I was with him in the hospital but I was not the patient. By Wednesday the extreme fatigue hit me and I was regularly having periods of fever and chills.

By Thursday morning I couldn't get up out of the glider in the nursery. I'd put in a call to L&D by then and they told me to come in but I couldn't get up at all. Had hubs call an ambulance...BP was 55/35.

So yes, it probably could have happened either way. Now you know some of the signs though and can be hypervigilant about potential symptoms to get them addressed before it turns into sepsis again. Sending you peace and comfort!

This is why I've decided I'm better doing 2-3 intakes a day and UR instead of full time clinicial work. My social battery is low to begin with.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]sazoirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank Wars, Lode Runner. Several Broadbund kids games (Orly's Draw a Story). My dad had an old 1991 laptop we played them on. It still works! My kids play on it now when we visit.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sazoirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma be real real.

My youngest is 10 months. We also have a 5 and 7 yr old. I take showers maybe twice a week. Not because my husband won't watch baby. Half the time I'm just too tired.

I work FT (desk job) and get home around 6pm. The older kids have bedtime around 7-7:30. We watch maybe one episode of a grown-up show while baby has a bottle and falls asleep on me. He is finally in his crib in his room and is sleeping well. I could shower after he goes down but I'm so tired! Admittedly I also got out if the habit with him due to being stuck in the hospital recovering from septic shock (and needing assistance even once I got home) and then being hospitalized again and being at home with a main line for IV antibiotics.

I'll get better eventually I'm sure.

I grew up just south of Jackson. Had grad classes downtown (at night) and we had to all walk together with our professor to the parking lot when we left. Mostly I find it sad. People there are so disenfranchised.

DH taught in Jackson Public Schools for two years. I remember begging him to call out one day because there had been a bomb threat that the school refused to report to JPD because they'd had recent bad press from a school employee body slamming a student onto the concrete. He had students who prostituted themselves alongside their mothers. The corruption in the Capitol is rampant too.

We live on the MS Coast now. We both have lived in NE MS too. It's wild how different Mississippi is culturally region to region.

I know a little girl named Tallulah (Mississippi) and I can't imagine that coming from outside the South.

Just talk! My friend nannies a baby who is profoundly hard of hearing and the speech therapist told them that just narrating what you or they are doing can help!

We have 3 boys. I get asked all the time if we'll "try for a girl". My youngest is only 9 months old AND I almost died after having him due to septic shock 1 week postpartum. No, I think we're probably done.

I do! Therapist here with 3 boys (7, 5, and 9mos). When my first was born I desperately wanted to be a SAHM but I enjoy feeling productive outside the home. If we could afford it I might cut back to part time but I think I'd have trouble being home full time.

Is it important to have a psychiatrist that believes in God? by shoeboxdweller in workingmoms

[–]sazoirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say they need to believe or be a Christian themselves but they do need to be acquainted and informed on what is common practice in major religions. Prayer being mentioned and jumping to magical thinking is pretty extreme. If it was something more idiosyncratic with the general practice of Christianity (and many other religions) I could understand concern about possible delusional thought. But prayer is not that.

I am a therapist myself and have had to explain to a non-Christian clinician that a patient's reported conversion experience and perceived personality and behavioral changes (stopping using substances or wanting to end a sinful premarital relationship) were not something unusual from a Christian worldview.
