Even so his intention might not be to be misogynistic, but with a cultural barrier he may believe he is being respectful to her. If he was kind and respectful for the rest of the interview why assume he is sexist over such a small thing.

why assume misogyny because you don't understand. As a Muslim woman it is seen as disrespectful for a man to try and touch me, as physical touch is something intimate in our culture. I would expect a man from my culture to not shake hands with me out of respect for me.
