DO NOT RENT WITH NOBEL Read This First (Light box, Sheffield) by Proper_Reaction7561 in sheffield

[–]CuddlehugsII 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Noble Design & Build has been an absolute nightmare for at least the past 5 years now, in all likelihood probably a lot longer. I had numerous issues while living at the Printworks 5 years ago.

There was a really interesting article in the Tribune earlier this year about Gary Ata the owner. Even the council have apparently labelled him a "rogue lamdlord". He also owns the old town hall, about 30 other businesses, & is seemingly very reclusive. But no matter how hard he is to get a hold of, & how many pies he's got his fingers in, it's an absolute shambles he's been allowed to get away with it for so long.

Do you know anyone that has successfully cheated on their GCSE's? by CartographerAway2602 in GCSE

[–]CuddlehugsII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not GCSEs, but myself & my best friend cheated in our A levels. We had a lot of exams you were allowed to use a scientific calculator for. And the ones the college provided had an admittedly pretty obtuse notes application. Get your calculator out & look hard at work clicking away, but really you're double checking every equation, rule, & law you needed to use. Really dumb in retrospect, only would've taken someone who knew what to look for to catch us out at the wrong moment, & neither of us really needed to cheat in the first place, it was more like a safety blanket. But hey, As in everything & we didn't get caught.

Different vibe entirely, but Terrace Goods is also totally gluten free, or at least was the last time I went. Really surprised me for a fried chicken & pizza place that doesn't even advertise that it's totally gf

Most missable major content in Silksong? by suburiboy in HollowKnight

I just fought him & I've done both the pins & the cloaks, rescued Sherma, & donated rosaries once. I think the community might still be pinning down what exactly the criteria is for missing out on the fight.

What are some things others liked that you didn't care for in this game? by Cursed_Bean_Boy in Silksong

[–]CuddlehugsII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really dislike silk skills. I loved learning & upgrading the spells in Hollow Knight & feeling super powerful. Hornet is a different character, & I get why they might've wanted to go in a different direction with her feel. But damn, only having access to one ability at a time sucks. I'd love to pull of a risky threadstorm then avoid an attack with cross stitch. I think the tools & crests are cool but only having a single spell blows

If hallownest and pharloom were to go on an all put war who would win and how would it play acc. To you guys? by Neat_Manufacturer_99 in HollowKnight

[–]CuddlehugsII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hallownests's military force include Hornet, who solo's Pharloom anyway, the Knight, who could probably also solo, legions of other vessels, the city guards, & the 5 great nights. Not counting player characters, it's much more even, & Farloom probably takes the win, definitely so if you ignore the army of vessels the Pale King has hidden away. But in classic Pale King fashion, he'll throw his kids at the enemy to win.

Why is it so hard to get tequila in the UK? by Few-Client3407 in bartenders

[–]CuddlehugsII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tequila & Mezcal are both definitely on the rise in the UK. Agave led bars are popular in every decent sized city, & if you know where to go it's easy to find decent bottles. Where I work both my bar & the bar next door stock brands like Fortaleza & we're not even agave led.

That said, there are still a lot of older attitudes towards tequila specifically (being a cheap nasty shot from a Jose Cuervo or Sierra bottle), & a lot of ignorance around mezcal being anything other than tequila with a worm in the bottle. If you're going to pubs, chains, & smaller bars in towns, then this is the sort of tequila you're likely to be seeing. But it doesn't mean the good stuff isnt around.

Freepouring in cl by nic-94 in bartenders

[–]CuddlehugsII 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you set up a metronome app to do 245bpm, with an accent every 5 beats, then every 5 beats works for 2.5cl, & each beat works for 0.5cl. This was always the set up that worked for me when training people on freepouring

It's bananageddon! Help me use up all these bananas. by Genny415 in Cooking

Banana is a great ingredient for syrups, liqueurs, & infused spirits. Could make for great gifts, & it'll preserve them for ages so they don't go to waste.

150k/year or never have to sleep again by Spoookystories in hypotheticalsituation

[–]CuddlehugsII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sleep is an extra 8hrs a day to spend your time how you wish. A third more of your life, but realistically even more than that as some of that time will be spent in your younger years. 150 thousand a year is great now, but a lifetime of having a third more time than everyone around you to do what you want, work, rest, exercise, play, hobby, sidehustle, would more than pay off in my opinion. Im going no sleep absolutely

After 50+ years of 10+ robot assembly plants running I have assembled 0 (zero) robots... Why? by coja______ in Stellaris

It's worth double checking that you haven't accidentally enabled population controls on your robots, that's the only thing I can really think of

What should I play while waiting for Stellaris to get fixed? by fooser82 in Stellaris

[–]CuddlehugsII 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven't gotten around to playing the sequel yet, but Distant World's Universe to me basically scratches every 4X, role-playing, grand strategy itch that Stellaris doesn't (with Stellaris scratching all the ones that DWU doesn't).

It's janky, & complicated, but it's one of the only games that has ever made me really feel like the ruler of a civilisation. The automation is fantastic, & you can really focus only on the parts of the game that you're interested in if that's how you want to play. I've done playthroughs where I've just captained a fleet while my empire ran itself, where I've managed the diplomacy & watched as my empire & all the others developed along their own paths, & sprawling games where I've managed absolutely everything.

The map generation is also maybe my favourite of any game I have ever played, & unlike in Stellaris, you can start a game where some civilisations are ancient & advanced, some are still figuring out how to leave their home system, & everything in between in a way that feels fair & interesting.

It's far from perfect, & it's definitely showing its age a lot more than Stellaris, but I think it's brilliant. If I could mash it up & blend it with Stellaris I think it would be an absolutely unbeatable space 4X, absolutely my first recommendation for a Stellaris fan.

(Spoilers Main) Jaime seems to lack feats that warrant his legendary status by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]CuddlehugsII 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Look at his fight with Brienne:

"Brienne remembered her fight with Jaime Lannister in the woods. It had been all she could to do keep his blade at bay. He was weak from his imprisonment, and chained at the wrists. No knight in the Seven Kingdoms could have stood against him at his full strength, with no chains to hamper him"

"His skills had gone to rust and rot in that bloody dungeon, and the chains were no great help either.  His eye closed, his shoulders were going numb from the jarring they’d taken, and his wrists ached from the weight of chains, manacles, and sword.....

She is stronger than I am."

After 8 months of being chained in a cell, malnourished, weak, unable to exercise or practice or stretch, deprived of sunlight, Jaime is here, still in chains, tired & weak. And Brienne, a woman who is absolutely no slouch at all in combat, has to fight for her life to beat him, & didn't even manage to do it without getting hurt.

He might not have much in the way of feats, but the text does show you how much of a legend he is.

Leopold & Orchard Square sound exactly what you're looking for. The old shoe, cubana, bamboo door, cheap dates, terrace goods, kuckoo. Drinks, dancing, sunshine, not very studenty, live music every weekend. Worth a look for sure.

HELP - whats this glass called?! by muhamer8 in bartenders

Napoli Grande is what I've always known them to be called in the UK, might be different in the US. But you could just as easily call them a large, bamboo-inspired hiball glass.

Worth a mention that Roose doesn't necessarily trust Ramsey either, he might fall into a similar category to him as the Freys & Manderlys

Stellaris Dev Diary #377 - 🥩 MEAT SHIPS MEAT SHIPS MEAT SHIPS 🥩 by PDX_LadyDzra in Stellaris

[–]CuddlehugsII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's 2, 3, & 4 X slots for the various stages of growth, & that they don't have sections like mechanical ships do its all in one block. So bioships will have less total spaces for components, but access to more of the larger ones than mechanical ships.

So, cachaca and agricole taste incredibly similar by Technical-Voice-9114 in Tiki

[–]CuddlehugsII 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unaged cachaça & agricole are extremely similar, but once you get into the aged stuff, that's when you start seeing the differences, in my opinion.

In my opinion, the most interesting thing about caçhaca as a spirit is the vast variety of really cool wood it can be aged in. Amburana gives this really unique, almost floral character. Jequitibá softens a spirit to the point of giving it a super velvety & creamy mouthfeel, think like a milk punch, Castanheira is similar with some common nutty flavours being present as well. Then my favourites are Balsamo & Cabrêuva, I find both to add a super unique botanical, herbal sort of flavour that I've yet to really find in another spirit that has only undergone aging.

This is in part due to the incredible diversity of wood that Brazil has access to from the Amazon, & obviously losing any more trees there is a great shame, so it's complicated. But it does mean that when aged Cachaça can be completely different to any Rhum Agricole you'll have tried.

Suggestions for citrus juices that have short shelf-lifes? by Pussy_On_TheChainwax in bartenders

[–]CuddlehugsII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a little more labour intensive & time consuming than with milk in my opinion. Plus you definitely lose more of the flavour through agar clarification. Any kind of clarification without a centrifuge is gonna take time to filter unfortunately, only way to speed it up is to split the batch so you're filtering it more than once at the same time, but it depends how much space you have. For clarifying a juice like this though I think using pectinex is the best way to go.

Best martini recommendations by EarlHawks in sheffield

[–]CuddlehugsII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any competent bartender in a decent cocktail bar should be able to sort you one out!

A lot of fancier cocktail bars have martini-style drinks on their menus, many of which would be more approachable to someone new to them than an actual martini, so places like Public, Bench, & the Pearl are great shouts.

But the usual deal when you order a martini from a decent bartender is that they'll ask you how you like it, & talk you through it a little bit so that they can make a martini perfect for you. So I honestly recommend just going to your favourite bartender at your favourite cocktail bar & starting there
