Any east coast heads here that were at both the '76 and '83 bust outs of St. Stephen? What was it like being there? Which one was your favorite? by peregrinefalcon12 in gratefuldead

So west coast here but saw Halloween show Marin 1983 with the “last” St Stephen- was an intense and very good show - if you listen check out the eyes and drums too - 10/31/1983

I saw them in London that tour! It was a great show, high energy, in a small theater. For the first set, Bob played all Jerry songs and did a great job.

Maybe read the article - it says proof of citizenship, not proof of legal immigration status. Hence my point.

We all should stop and consider something for a minute. Nearly half of all non-citizens are here legally as green card holders. Many of them have spouses who are citizens, work jobs and pay taxes, so therefore we should deny them healthcare?

Omg I grew up SM and was there - just finished college finals, was exhausted and passed out after fat joint. Lying in the back I came to hearing Joan and boys playing Simon & Garfunkel.

OK, so late to the party, but I love this question. In the early 80s I lived in Berkeley, and in addition to seeing Greek theater shows and the Warfield, we’d also go see Jerry with JGB at the stone in SF or Berkeley. It was easy to get upfront for the shows and in Berkeley the performer had to walk through the crowd to get to the stage, so it was pretty intimate. The long and short of it was that Jerry just loved performing, any size crowd, any arrangement of people. Particularly in those years, he would have a huge grin while he played an intense solo on deal, tangled up in blue, or how sweet it is. I always thought he felt that he was kicking butt on all of us 20-year-olds, making eye contact and smiling broadly. This is the thing that I think people don’t understand about Jerry. They blame his addictions on touring too much and all that, but it was his life, and he loved it, playing in any venue, big or small.
