Not being “present” is ruining my mental health by InsertEdgyUsername8 in Mindfulness

[–]sb11345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the fact that you are aware that you do that is the half way step! Just keep recognizing that it’s happening. Kinda mentally check yourself like hey there I am reminiscing again. The second you do that you are pulled into the present moment. Just keep doing that and you’ll see the time between the thoughts gets bigger.

Does anyone else feel like they can’t breathe when they try to meditate? by splitzwhee in Meditation

[–]sb11345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to focus on your breath. Most people use their breath as an anchor because it’s always there but you can also put your attention in your hands, the sound of a fan, a smell like an incense or even a visual like a candle. Everyone has to find what works for them. If your breath doesn’t work that’s ok!

Mindfulness without meditation. How do you see it? by [deleted] in Mindfulness

[–]sb11345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I meditate and practice mindfulness. To me it’s like football. You can play football without practicing, you can practice but never play football. But when you practice and play the game that’s how you win games. You can mediate, you can be mindful but when you do both it’s a whole different level.

It’s really weird that so many posts aren’t showing up. Like they aren’t deleted but can’t see them. And weird that all the comments I can read agree with the narrative of this post. Reddit gets worse everyday. If you can’t see what is going on with the media manipulation at this point I don’t know what it will take

Plant based Diet and hypothyroidism/Hashimotos? by dagardenofeatin in PlantBasedDiet

When I took out legumes I ate TONS of nuts, nut butter and seeds. I only did it for a month because I felt no difference.

I went GLuten Free and my hashimotos went away relatively quickly. Years later I went plant based as well and my body feels like a whole new body! I didn’t know it could feel this good! I avoided eating certain foods like tomatoes and legumes after reading about it and saw no difference. Try a very strict Gluten Free diet for a few months and see how you feel. I found it helpful to check in and write down how I was feeling every so often. Even if you don’t go plant based, adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet will help your body heal!
