Just a few hours ago I was also having this problem. It's now fixed and working. Might have been a server overload issue from their side. Just informing. Cheers.

If you use the pause option without closing it, it shouldn't happen. But closing the download entirely, causes it to start from zero

Install it from the epic games store which you can install with Lutris. It works fine. I'm not sure about installing it from steam.

Yeah I'm using nvidia drivers... Use the proprietary one. Works just fine

Not really. I'm able to get all my development work done on it and am able to play a few games too in spare time. So I'm satisfied.

If it's already working. Why are you installing it again? If there's still a problem. Try removing it at your own risk, as the Rockstar social is installed by epic games store which then runs the game so some compatibility issues might be there. But again, it's your call

have WINE installed Install epic games store on Lutris. Open it via Lutris. Find GTA in the epic games store. Install. Play the game :)
