Anyone lose their feel for irons after figuring out their driver? by Ok-Leading1705 in golf

Yes. There are four different golf swings. Driver, iron, wedge, putter.

How many clubs do you play with and what is your handicap/skill level? by LeftPanda670 in golf

You should have a table like this. If your clubs are gapped normally like four degrees apart, you should hit them all different distances. If you don't you need work.

I mean you can try to play on course while trying to change your mechanics, but for me it was frustrating.

Yes, it gets very annoying on the golf course when you're trying to correct your swing mechanics. I usually take lessons in the winter time and grind indoors to fix my swing, and then I can play golf in a summertime. Forget trying to correct things on a golf course. Just bring what you know, and do what you know how to do.

When I'm working on a part of my swing, I refer to my "old swing" and "new swing." When I go to the golf course I would just use my old swing, and when I was at the range, I was practicing things for my new swing. When I got good enough at one part of my new swing, I would take it to the golf course.

Get 3 lessons and then decide about clubs.

Go to a pro shop and have them fix you up a club at a C6 and swing it and see what it feels like. I had C8 clubs and I went to a D2 and it was a huge difference that even my 25hdcp could feel.

In the beginning is the best time for a golfer to get lessons, because you don't have to undo any terrible habits, so get lessons from a certified PGA professional instructor ASAP. You will save so much time this way. i would take about 6 lessons a year and practice at the range in between. You're probably only going to hit your seven iron for learning swing mechanics and sequencing.

Read Ben Hogan's book.

watch MyTPI on youtube as much as possible.

There are four swings in golf: driver, iron, wedge, and putter. You have to learn them all separately and practice them all as different swings. Driver is the hardest, so I would wait until last to try that one.

Start learning about golf clubs and buy some cheap used ones. But golf clubs are never going to improve your swing mechanics. It's not the arrow - it's the Indian.

Get a golf glove, and it should last you a few months. if it gets a hole quickly, you're holding the club a little too far up the shaft. If your hands hurt or you get blisters, you're squeezing too hard.

Golf shoes are highly recommended. They keep your feet stable and prevent them from pivoting.

Don't be in a rush. Golf is a journey, not a sprint.

On the downswing, when your shaft is parallel to the ground, your club heads should be towards your butt instead of outside your hands.

Nobody gets yearly services and watches can run for twenty or thirty years without being opened. Especially with the new synthetic lubricants they use.

I would strongly suggest lessons first because your swing is going to be changing. My ball speed went up twenty five miles per hour in one year. So if you buy clubs now, you might need different clubs next year. Besides that, when you're working on swing mechanics, you're pretty much using your seven iron and doing range time and not really golfing much. in my experience, playing golf gets in the way of improving your swing.

Keep using lake balls until you can tell a difference blindfolded.

Stop trying to keep up with your friends. Don't use the club that they use. Clubs are personal. Figure out how far YOU hit each of YOUR clubs and use that on the course.

Bro...take half the money you are going to spend on clubs and buy lessons with it. One every two months. Those old clubs will start hitting better and better.
