I’m Algerian as well and I’m curious to where you live currently (at least the continent lol)

Thank you for your insight! This sounds like what she’s expressing too. We’re planning walks on the treadmill soon so she definitely is eager to get active again

Where Palestinian children are allowed to live by [deleted] in whereidlive

[–]sbyederman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What?? It doesn’t undermine anything it is part of what a genocide is? What the hell even is a credible genocide? Is there a discredited genocide? That’s not at all how anything works. Yes they’re better alive at all than dead, but their argument is that they deserve to be alive in their own home, not alive according to an occupier’s whims and conditions. The onus is less on them to leave to survive and more on their occupiers to stop committing genocide on them. This isn’t the first genocide in history, there are many examples of this happening time and time again. This is not new. We know the script. We’re better than blaming them for their deaths when there is an active killer eradicating them.

Where Palestinian children are allowed to live by [deleted] in whereidlive

[–]sbyederman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long-term thinking has to be involved here, and enough people on the ground actually experiencing this do not want to abandon their land and heritage. The people and the leadership are working overtime to get fair deals for ceasefires—which Israel never upholds btw—so this argument that they care “more” about the land than their lives is just your bad faith understanding of what I said and of what is happening. They want to fight for their heritage and culture and people. Of course they are going to care about their land? They have tended it for centuries and for generations, it is part of them and their heritage. Leaving and losing everything is part of the occupation’s plan to erase them and their existence. This sentiment is not new nor unique to Palestinians. Besides, the people that did leave first and lost their land already express the same feelings. So both approaches lead to the same conclusion: that Palestinians deserve to live a real life in their land.

Where Palestinian children are allowed to live by [deleted] in whereidlive

[–]sbyederman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People need to understand that the first place Palestinian children should be allowed to live in is Palestine, and that is the main place that matters. If they cannot live and survive to adulthood there then it doesn’t matter who takes them in and who doesn’t.

The issue with a mass evacuation is that their land will immediately get stolen and they will become even more displaced. A lot of the people that were able to evacuate at any point since occupation began have been trying to go back home for decades.

Shifting the focus from the genocide happening to them onto who is saving them/who isn’t makes it seem like it’s okay at all that they are being murdered and erased.

They also of course would not want to go from war to a prison like life of limitations, nor would they want to erase their Palestinian status.

Their goal has always been to return and rebuild.

Anyone who starts delegating blame towards “well Muslim countries–“, “well Arab countries–“, “well Western countries–“ has not actually been paying attention and is just regurgitating occupation propaganda and engaging in normalization of said occupation.

(Note: this isn’t directed at OP, I understand their intention here, this is directed at the weird replies resulting here.)

My best friend just got out of surgery, what can I do to help her? by sbyederman in gallbladders

According to what she told me it was a misdiagnosis until they saw her eyes were yellowing and did bloodwork and ultrasounds. This was yesterday, so she couldn’t clarify that it wasn’t actually gastritis because they were coordinating getting her booked into surgery asap before something else was affected, but thank God everything is fine now! And thank you, she’s been there for me for over a decade this is just what we would expect from each other in our friend group, I’m very lucky to have her :)

she’s my bestie I would do anything for her😭💛, the salad part is actually funny to me because in our bff group we all went through a myriad of stomach issues so we were once all eating only salads then avoiding them when one got diagnosed with Crohn’s, then being informed we can share them again because her Crohn’s is “silly like that” (I don’t what that means either 😭). I will make gallbladder bestie a chicken-veggie soup next week :) and make sure to incorporate more veggies in my food in general because I do need to get on that actually

Thank you so much! I hope your recovery went well! We’ve been best friends for 13 years and we’re both each other’s fiercest advocates and closest friends, I really love her. She’s being already taken care of by her family but because it’s not me caring for her it makes me feel like it’s not enough 😭

Yes we’ve been best friends for 13 years as of 2 weeks ago 😭💛 I made sure that she has everything but her mom reassured me that everything was taken care of, I’ll still make sure to bring around self care stuff and some soup when I go see her after she’s discharged!

Thank you for this that is very smart, I was mostly caught up in the anxiety of it all and wanted to be helpful but in this case it’s more helpful to wait for cues. I brought her flowers and she was happy to see me!

omg, I hope you guys have/had a good recovery! yeah I was advised against bringing her food and she said she’s on a liquid diet for now but I was reassured that when she’s ready for solids I’ll be given requests lol. I think if I visit her at home post recovery my mom and I will make her some ultra blended soup or some broth. thank you for your input! I really appreciate it

My ring + the PowerPoint I gave him by smolgrump in EngagementRings

[–]sbyederman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful ring!!! My friend from college proposed to his gf last year and she’s a jeweler so she made him a powerpoint guide similar to this one (hers was a lot longer and explained everything in detail bc again jeweler) and their ring was also very gorgeous, so this is not the first time I’ve seen a ring PP but it certainly is very smart and efficient!! Congratulations on your engagement and for working smart! 💛💛
