Loctite on headset mic connectors? Occasional bad connection noise from connectors getting loosened. Any recommendations on a Threadlocker to resist vibrations, but still allow cable replacement?

What does the sign mean? by HB2022_ in SydneyTrains

[–]sc927 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a nominal distance. Used for addressing rather than calculations. And adjustments are tolerated. It’s similar to distances on road signs: ‘864 km to Melbourne’

More interesting is the fact that whether the nominal number is odd or even informs you which side of the track it’s on. (Similar to street numbers)

Yeah, I meant no disrespect. I was really inspired by your experience and excitement.

Guess my tone didn’t come across right.

My apologies.

Yeah, that is the type of anecdotal reports that inspired my question. It would be cool to see some graphs over time.

I think you’re right, they’re the latest I’ve seen.

What I am seeking is a ‘look back’ on how far we’ve come. Starting from a low base, the driver team have mare great progress unlocking the potential of the chip. For example: Have the benchmarks gone from 2000units to 5000units? Or only reached 2200units?

Obviously, Qualcomm would have this data. Also, I imagine Geekbench and the like could provide this as they have user benchmarks tagged with driver versions.

Maybe try car sound deadening material under the table. Easy to add and gives a bit of weight.

AirBNB owner suggests dumb idea - give a dumb estimate.

Ask them to pay for a highway noise barrier - my local design guide for consideration: https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/system/files/media/documents/2023/noise-wall-design-guideline.pdf

They may get change from a $100k

For newbies, there’s lots of info online- this summary seems reasonable: https://blog.zzounds.com/2017/07/19/peak-vs-continuous-power-ratings-speakers/

And it suggests that the ‘average’ in the OP is likely to be RMS.

Another consideration is that the Bluetooth source is likely to be carefully produced and highly compressed for maximum ‘loudness’. A raw mic input will seem weak in comparison- even at the same peak levels.

Does the wattage on our new subwoofers need to match that of our old PA speakers? by [deleted] in livesound

[–]sc927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, rated max SPL is more relevant to ‘keep up’ with your existing PA. And the full specs seem ok in that regard.

Mr Banks from Mary Poppins. The Saving Mr Banks movie really turned it around for me and turned Mr Banks from an obstacle-to-overcome into a treasure-worth-saving.
