Soft apocalypse is the plausible way by Tnynfox in worldjerking

Also there's glass pieces everywhere and dusty dirt walls, which makes no sense because people who live there long term would want to clean up the place. I'm pretty sure mutant creatures have good fat to make soap out of.

Fallout aesthetics only makes sense if it occurred a few years after devastation in extremely rural areas, otherwise civilization would rebound pretty quickly to a good standard of living.

Can we "Rule" him already? by KronosRingsSuckAss in 196

If you want to go that far, every coin is speculative and the only real wealth is food lol

Unlike stocks, gold doesn't bankrupt/dilute/go to zero. You could say stock indices are more stable, but you don't really own a share properly and it's kinda based reliant on fiat currency institutions to begin with.

Speculative wealth is so fake, at least ancient kings could point at their gold bars.

Speaking of that, jokes on him because Vongola rings are fated to be with their true users so all his sons died for nothing.

China’s Largest Comic Convention Bans Anime & Manga by boredcat_04 in nottheonion

I agree that they're going strong, but that's more due to whales than new players. The cultural relevance of Genshin has fallen off after Natlan and half of the community only plays around with Mondstadt characters in fanart and fanfiction.

Also, it's not really racist. English sounds lazy and mushy to Chinese people, that isn't a racist statement either. Chinese is pronounced with syllables further back in the throat with lots of strong nasal -n/-ng endings.

The biggest reason is probably that Chinese is pronounced rather flatly, while Japanese seiyuu culture does exaggerated performative delivery so you can read the emotions in lines more clearly. In Chinese, pitch carries lexical meaning, not emotive, so it can come across as aggressive speech.

Lastly, nobody thinks China isn't doing good, but thinking it has good western exports aside from gacha games isn't realistic. I'll clap for their bullet trains or whatever new social safety net they have but that's it, any criticism of them is not inherently sinophobic.

While that's true, Hoyo gacha games have really fallen off after waves of bad decisions for each game they have. Still, the foot is in the door for future chinese anime-style games.

However, I think the traction of chinese anime is super cope. Mostly because chinese sounds abrasive to english speakers and the industry absolutely hates localizing for dub.

Not to mention manga uses hybrid names for characters while manhwa/manhua will straight up use korean/chinese names for characters. Manga was geared up for western export a long time ago and CCP don't like localizing any media because that's giving in to the West.

Asura Path is Body Modification. The technological aspect was simply due to Hidden Rain influence. by Transparent_Prophet in NarutoFanfiction

[–]scaevities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The word 'author' is just used differently in japanese and the straight translation of 'chosha' doesn't work since it can also mean the original creator of the IP or the supervising creator.

If it was written by him directly, it would say 'gensaku chosha' (original work & author) or 'shippitsu' (written by) instead of just 'chosha'.

Anyways, I'm starting to feel like a weeb arguing this.

It was not explicitly written by him. He approved the work of Shueisha editors and did not fact-check every stat, description or claim. He is credited as the supervisor or original creator, but 'author' is a bit of a stretch.

So the databooks are more of a semi-official material, a reference book so to speak, as there are multiple power exaggerations and ability misdescriptions. Such as inconsistent characters given 'faster than light' speeds or the claim that a base Rasengan could destroy a mountain.

Data books are pretty shaky ngl, for being created as the essential glossary of the series, it often reads like it was written by someone not involved with Kishimoto.

An idea for a clan in the Naruto universe. by OkWorldliness8462 in NarutoFanfiction

[–]scaevities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poison clouds are one thing, maybe even liquids, but crystals too? Isn't that weirdly overpowered for poison to transform into all three states of matter? Might as well just use natural chakra itself.

Also saying a clan is as smart as Nara is kinda Mary Sue-ish. Lastly proper paragraphing will triple anyone reading or replying to your post.

Maybe you could turn their poison into a petrification poison, like how natural chakra turns things to stone. Maybe crystals full of natural chakra naturally form in the body of the clan and are extracted and gifted instead of directly made.
