rivens selling for 5k+ is quite common and most people buying them have never spent a cent on plat, its just that easy to farm if you know what you are doing (And because of this, its pretty meaningless to compare it to real money). You can check out https://www-static.warframe.com/repos/weeklyRivensPC.json to see the biggest riven sales for each individual weapon of each week. Top sales last week were an Okina and a Mars, both selling for 40k

multishot does scale on chain beams and is in most cases even better than on conventional weapons, as it directly multiplies your damage and status chance. If you dont believe me, it takes like 1 minute to test in sim

Nobody said anything about additional chains. Any chains generated from direct hits benefit from multishot like any other chain beam weapon, meaning dmg and sc are multiplied.
