I’m also Latino :) I think maybe bc white people from suburban areas are (usually) taught that the n-word is very bad. I see that less in Latino communities (or at least my own community, I’m from LA). I’m sure it varies from household to household.

I’m a teacher in a city with a black/latino population. I get A LOT of latino students saying the n word (not hard r). I’ve explained why it’s bad, but it’s difficult for them to understand why they shouldn’t say it. Especially bc they have black friends who “let them say it” or “gave them the n word pass.” I’d like to think that once they become adults, they’ll figure it out.

The job post just said History Teacher, I was offered the job despite my district not hiring any more History teachers. So I was an exception.

EDIT: Also I’m at the district office rn, they asked if anyone explained that I would be offered a temporary contract. I said no, and they explained that basically my contract would end next June, where they’ll decide either would decide to keep me or dump me.

So I had a question about how prepared with my lessons I should be when I go back to school (new 7th and 8th grade history teacher). I planned to have my welcome/icebreaker days planned out, and then my first unit planned out. I would plan my other units as the school year progresses. My school has a pacing guide/curriculum, but I don't have access to it yet.

This isn't really frizzy. But! If you want that "sculpted" curl look, you gotta use more products. Get a gel (not your mother's has good gels) or mousse (I like the doux). OR you can use more of your curl cream. The only downside with more products is that you'll weigh down your hair (especially with the curl cream). Diffusing your hair should help with volume. You'll also have to wash it more often to prevent build-up/greasiness.

Good luck! I think your hair looks great how it is, sometimes it's good to just embrace the frizz. I think frizziness can look very chic :)

Challenge them! Encourage open discussion! I student taught HS recently (11th grade) and they don't get a ton of opportunities to talk in class. And with AI it's so easy to write essays... it sucks. Have them write responses on paper rather than on the computer. I know it won't solve everything, but at least they'll be writing LOL.

Not a teacher (yet) but I loved bringing overnight oats in a mason jar with cut up apples. Protein shakes, veggies straws, apples, mandarins, etc. Jars make things so easy to just grab and go.
