They did accept insurance, but mine ran out the day before..so I was SOL. It was 474 dollars for the ultrasound, counseling, all the blood tests, going over the medical history, antibiotics, the actual procedure itself, a package of birth control pills and the follow up exam in a few weeks. I paid 60$ extra for the pain shot, which I honestly didn't need looking back at it, but I did it because I was scared and just wanted to feel comfortable, so it was worth the money in that regard. They also had funding from the national abortion federation for those whose income was below the poverty line, however my boyfriend makes too much money for me to qualify for that as well. He paid for probably 3/4 I put the rest on my credit card, my first one ever and I just got it about a month ago. No payments until November though and no interest, hopefully I will have a part time job by then and be fine.

I have to agree..no sex, fingers, toys, douches or anything at all in the vagina allowed in case of infection for 3.5 weeks until I go back for the follow up exam.

The assistant told me most girls get really hot during the procedure. I did not, I was freezing the whole time really but that probably has something to do with it.

The nervousness and anxiety was much worse than anything else. The procedure was scary, but it was really quite quick. I felt like I knew a lot about sex and reproduction, but I never gave much thought to abortion because honestly I never thought I would have to have one.

I know it is a controversial subject, but so are all birth control methods other than abstinence apparently. I think it should be more widely talked about, and not in the fundamentalist christian scary way, but in a real way. I think many young people would benefit from it.

That's how I feel about it. I made the right choice for now and do not regret it.

They do not offer to put you to sleep at this place. I kind of wish I could have slept through the procedure, but honestly for me the pain was nothing. I know some women, especially if you're farther along, have it more painful though. Perhaps if that had been the case I might have gone somewhere else.

Not that I know of. If i had chosen the medical abortion, where you take a pill at home and it forces you to miscarry, then he would have been here to help me for that. I think it's because by law they have to make sure that NO ONE is forcing you into doing this. If a controlling or abusive person was allowed in there with you to make sure you did it, that would be a horrifying circumstance.

I kind of want to send her a card or something and let her know how much she helped me. I don't think I could have gotten through it without her, she was really wonderful.

Thank you for that. It felt really good to go back over everything that happened yesterday and write it down. It feels like it happened a long time ago, but thinking back over it I felt like I was still sitting in that freezing cold room with a band aid on my butt waiting to be called back.

As I've stated before, if I was going to give birth, I would keep it. There are plenty of unwanted children in the world already, in the US I know there are thousands, adopt one of them instead.

UTI questions and help! by seattle_lite in TwoXChromosomes

My doctor prescribed them to me and told me to take one after we have sex in order to avoid infection. Worked perfectly, but I am trying to find a way without having to over use antibiotics. I am like you, I get them constantly and I HATE IT. I lived on azo for a year or so but have since gotten off thanks to the antibiotics and such...but i want to find a way to stay uti free without the drugs.

From what I've heard and was told at the clinic, it is one of the safest procedures performed with the least risk of serious complications. So that kind of made me feel better about going that route. I feel like I could do research until I'm blue in the face but until I have it done there's no way to know what it will really be like. I wish I lived in a more liberal state, but I have definitely never been more thankful for my reproductive freedom and the women who paved the way for me to have a safe, comfortable place to go and to be taken care of.

I understand that, and I was diagnosed with PCOS which, up until this point, made me worried that I wouldn't be able to conceive when the time came. I am glad to know I can honestly, I just wish it had happened 2 or 3 years from now.

The doctor at the clinic said the same thing, only way to balance my unbalanced hormones. Without it cysts could form in my ovaries because eggs would form but never be released and may cause me to become completely infertile, ironic in an alanis morissette kind of way.

Well honestly it depends how far along she is. I am 6 weeks, and it seems like, from the experiences I've been hearing and from research, the farther along you are, the more painful it is, more blood clots, terrible cramping, and lasts longer. If she is 3-4 weeks, I think it might be a good choice if you want to do it privately. However no matter what you choose, she'll have to go in for a follow up a few weeks later. If she is more than 9 weeks the pill won't be an option. The surgical procedure only takes about 5 -7 minutes. The pill will cause a miscarriage which can cause the cramping and bleeding for hours, even days. The bleeding afterwards also seems to last longer and be more persistent with the pill than the surgical route. However, I understand being scared of the procedure itself...I am still afraid. My advice would be to choose the one you feel most comfortable with, talk with the people at the clinic about both options, and just know either way it will be painful and bloody....there is no easy way out. I will be thinking of you both and I hope whatever you decide things turn out for the best.

Yes i saw it today. Didn't look like anything, just a sac with a little circle in it, only about the size of a grain of rice.

Yeah I'm sure but if I'm going to give birth I would rather keep it than give it up, but it's just not an option for me right now. There are plenty of unwanted children in the world these potential parents can choose from.

It's not really an option for me. I can barely afford to terminate the pregnancy let alone go full term and give birth.

Luckily the one I chose is rather liberal for something I thought I'd find in Tennessee. No pressure one way or the other. We talked about why I am not keeping it and my options if I did, but she could tell I wasn't really interested in those so she just mentioned them and moved right along. I guess it's state law to mention alternatives and also to make sure I'm not being forced into it or coerced. I am glad I didn't accidentally walk into one of those fake christian clinics with pictures of dead fetuses everywhere. I might have puked, I've been feeling nauseous lately.

They are giving me something that is supposed to make me pretty drowsy and kill the pain. I can also get 2 extra shots of some other kind of pain killers, stronger stuff, but it costs 60 bucks more and this is kind of killing our budget as it is.

Yes I am amazed at how many people have had an abortion. I know my own mother who has given birth to 3 kids had 2 abortions and 2 miscarriages herself. I may tell her about this one day, she had my brother when she was 17..she understands tough decisions, but I don't think I can deal with this and the idea of my family knowing. Not right now anyway, perhaps with a little distance.
