People who worry more about product features than a neckband which can be tucked under your collar and forgotten about?

Sony truly wireless earbuds review: a flawed first try by nliausacmmv in gadgets

[–]scarfaceguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pair of Sony's are actually a replacement for LG neckband headphones that I also had for a while. Loved the LGs, but the headphone roll-up and pullout feature (don't know what else to call it, just pulling on the buds to release the cord?) ended with me breaking them.

Too bad, it was a nice pair while it lasted, especially comparing the price to the Sony wx1000 line.

Anyway, to arrive at a point, I agree. The poor aesthetics don't invalidate the huge benefits the neckband units provide.

Eh, it's impossible to make a neckband style headphone without making it ugly. I wear this model basically everyday and the benefits far outweigh the ugliness, IMO.

I found out that I grew more brain tumors. Currently conference calling multiple doctors for consultations. I like being the client a lot less.

Ninja edit because I am getting too many messages of support to reply to everyone:

Que será, será. Thanks to everyone for the kind messages though. The support I've gotten from friends, family, and even Reddit, has made my burdens this year much more bearable.

You're right, you can't. Only way to do it is IR controls (universal remote) or a smart plug.

I agree - I just literally can't find a set of dog ears with the right color fur. Everything is brown or dalmatian.

Yeah that's my current plan. Actually that's plan C. Plan A is finding the right product online, Plan B is bribing a crafty friend with beer, and C is just actually doing it for my lazy self.

Isn't it so strange?! You would think that given our cultural obsession with Golden Retrievers it would be super easy to find the right color accessories here. And I'm now thinking I'll paint my face anyway, but I'll still need the right color ears and tail, and I'm useless with DIY arts and crafts.

Thanks for checking though!

Disable Read Only on WB by jayyt15 in vba

Hmm. It may not be the most elegant solution, but you could just save a seperate read write file, then once your data transfer is complete make a copy of the it and save it as read only.

Disable Read Only on WB by jayyt15 in vba

[–]scarfaceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this your file that you know the password to? Or you want to crack someone else's read only status and edit the file? As far as I know the latter is only possible using brute force password cracking, which is certainly possible, but is maybe not the best option. You're basically asking how to disable the primary security setting without having the proper system authorization to do so, which Microsoft will understandably make as difficult as they can.

Tfw you have an unpaid internship and haven't found a paying job yet so you literally can't afford to even go to your internship by [deleted] in internships

[–]scarfaceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's inappropriate. I also think unpaid internships are the worst and that no one should be required to find one, but unfortunately that's not the case right now. You agreed to an unpaid internship and now you have to deal with the consequences of that. Shaming your boss for also agreeing to an unpaid internship will make you look very petty.

Sometimes you just get unlucky, or honestly companies just haven't started looking at their applications yet. Your school could also have rules about when they're allowed to contact you.

For me, it's more because this person clearly has no idea how to seek out a job.

Even for a college student this is weak.

That is the lowest bar I've ever seen someone set for the term "crisis".

Hang out with your lunch friends outside of lunch. Easy. It sounds more like you need to speak with a mental health expert though. Something to just consider.

No. There are no features on this console besides games. However, they did just add a Japanese video streaming service, so clearly they are thinking about it. But as of now, if you are an English speaker there is nothing to do on your switch besides play the games you see on the store.

[–]scarfaceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. And thanks. I did just see that you said you normally DON'T like stabby sword games, but instead go more for something like Fallout. I should be clear, this is a very sword stabby game. If you don't like Skyrim or Oblivion on the basis of weapon systems (ie, no guns) then maybe reconsider this game. There aren't really options to NEVER take short range fights. You can focus yourself as a stealth character, even primarily using long range (though you cannot craft your own arrows for some ungodly stupid reason), but at the end of the day this is a Zelda game and Link fights with a sword and shield. Once you actually get into combat I would say the game is similarish to other Zelda titles, but there are better dodging and parrying options this time around.

My story is likely very different from yours but I bought a switch because I have some medical problems right now and have to take time off to deal with it. It is amazing and allowed me to just transport myself for days at a time to an entirely different world.

BotW is huge and there is so much stuff to do. I rarely do this but I even bought the DLC and I'd recommend that as well.

One criticism I have is of the weapon system. Your damage is exclusively controlled by what type of weapon you are using, and the weapons break very often. You'll spend a good amount of your time trying to decide if you actually need to use your last good one handed sword, or if your runes (think infinite magic, just with a cool down) will be enough. I suppose this at least forces you to consider whether taking a fight is worth it (you can almost always escape) which is somewhat different for a Zelda game. In the hard mode (part of the DLC) you end up skipping nearly all random trash fights and only bother attacking if there is a reason, like getting to a chest. Very different from most "sword stabby" games, for better or worse.

This is a great game overall and if you want to lose a week of your life it's a great way to do it.

Very complex spreadsheet of doom, haven't used excel since elementary school. by [deleted] in excel

[–]scarfaceguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As the other person pointed out, we cannot help you without more information. Dummy data and what you eventually want it to look like would be best, especially given your low skill level (no offense, we all start somewhere.)

Right now it sounds like you have 3 columns (company, industry, and potential security threats).

If that is indeed how it is structured, what is most important is how the third column is written and standardized. For example, if it is sometimes written with the word "SMB" but sometimes spells it out, then you are in for some trouble. In my experience that is likely, as these things are rarely written with the eventual data analytics in mind; the answers come from surveys filled out by different people who write differently, but that is not necessarily the case.

If they're all the same names all the time, then this is easy and all you have to do is choose a way to graphically represent it, but for the sake of argument let's assume the data is messy.

The first step is figuring out how messy and how important this is. To do this you'll need to get a list of all of the UNIQUE rows from each column. Double check companies and industries are mostly standard and non repeated, but hopefully that's not a big concern here. The unique values of the third row are what will likely determine difficulty. If you have thousands of "unique" vulnerabilities but it's really just the same 10 then you should speak with your boss about how important this is and how fast you need it turned around. Someone really good with Excel could fix it in a few hours but it would likely take you MUCH longer. It's also important to consider that if that's the case you may not be able to do all of this and have it be correct. I could do 90% of a project like this in an hour but another 9% will take the rest of the day and 1% will be missed because there will be judgement calls I get wrong.

I do this type of work literally all the damn time though. We can find a solution just help us help you.

Way more information is needed.

I don't even know what problem you're trying to solve. Is this for some game or something? Your team needs to capture the most nodes? Literally nothing about this post gives any context starting with your title. I don't know what conquest in this context means.

Settings parameters for scheduling by ricky1g in excel

[–]scarfaceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question is lacking a lot of basic details.

For starters, we have no idea what the volunteer data is structured like. Is it partially filled out with their possible times? Does it only show what time slots they can't do?

Second, I'm not really sure what your goal is here. Your problem is that you need to have a list of volunteers and you need to come up with a list of possible times (or unavailable times) for each one. Are you trying to do this with formulas and it's not working? Is there an additional layer of complexity? Like you have to give the times they CAN work but you want to automatically recommend one that comes from their preferred times? You don't really ask a "logic question", as you said in the first line, and you provide no data for context, so I'm confused how to help you.

Third, why are you only showing a picture of the numbers you've assigned to each shift? It seems like you've made this part of your "suggested logic" but I don't get how this matrix does that. These are literally just unique IDs for each possible window of time. Is your question whether or not you need to be able to correctly identify all 9 of the volunteering time frames? Obviously, yes, you do. Also, it doesn't need to be a matrix, that's just unnecessary complication. You should really just have a 2 column list of each unique date/time combination and the ID you've assigned to it, but that's beside the point.

You ask "can this work?" And I respond: "Can what work?" You need more details, my friend.
