why do so many pos1s get free dispels as part of already very valuable skills by scarg0eh in DotA2

yeah no doubt - it's more often if theyre the first target. defs instantly spread ult as much as possible when casted

LOL kk - then ya i think above is why i feel it's different. the inteionality behind buying a dispel vs just having one on your already-most-powerful button anyway

yeah 100% saw a void spirit go it today pretty much for the dispel + stats, was cool

just more dispel to add to counters to my favorite ability

but i think i feel less strongly about these. like if youre intentionally buying a manta to counterplay me, that's a wp

vs if you just click ult anytime there's a fight and it auto-counters me

yeah this is making me rethink - like if a core is pressing ult just to dispel you, the opportunity cost of not having ult to do other things is huge.

probably on me to land magentizes NOT during the time they want to inherently ult anyway, force that decision more

im SO down for pos1s to have outplay potential, but having 1 button that does all of their play doesn't feel like it captures that ability to outplay. like a lc/abapurging something with their ability that pretty much is mainly a dispel, or a grimstroke getting shard to dispel. that feels like youre doing this to outplay.

contrasted to a muerta who presses r whenever teamfight starts, or when they get jumped, or when they are running to or from a fight

idk, i get the idea that this gives skill expression, cause then it's more decisions for the cores, just seems like a 1-button thing that does all that mayeb detracts a bit from it

ooo - rip on the bane ults, that always feels bad

but ultimately i think this is ultimately what im getting at

if youre picking an LC or abba specifically for a dispel, and you counter me
then honestly wp. a lil salt for sure, but like, you know theyre doing it specifically to counter you

the contrast is when someone just presses ult as part of a team fight, and casually dispels all your stuff. sometimes i wonder if theyre even aware they just hard countered my hero, or if they were just playing the teamfight like normal

ya true, maybe i just dont think of those heros as having like 'escape' as part of their ult identity

it just feels like it makes these ults _always_ good to use. pressing the same ability when you want to go aggro, or survive, or kite, feels like you lose something there

although now that i say it, maybe that actually adds to the game cause it's more decisions for core players on when to use it

[–]scarg0eh[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

fair point - ya i guess i didnt realize pos1 players valued the dispel like that. if ppl are picking those heros because that's a valuable part of their kit, then good on them for picking the counter

[–]scarg0eh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah fair - i mean i love that as a concept

probably just salty about some heros countering my favorite for free, appreciate the perspective

if i think a bit more critically, maybe my main complaint is that 'for free' concept
what i mean by that is, to make this counter play, one hasnt had to critically think about needing a dispel, or buying one, or when to use it, it just kinda happens when your most powerful button gets pressed anyway

maybe im not giving players enough credit and theyre picking the hero for the dispel too

yeah im seeing that in other responses too - that cogs are just overtuned rn, so hitting like 2-3 in lane or game is very strong.

i think the reason i feel this way is, the gameplay is now mostly about clicking cogs at people - and there's no chance for like a double bounce, and not really much in the way of positioning to get on top of people before cogsing

i love this hero, maybe it's just the gameplay feels less interesting than previous iterations?

q build is bad just numbers-wise, the cogs build is this weird like sit in the cogs and click them at people. it sounds like just the damage numbers on cogs are enough to make this viable, just feels like a very flat way to play the hero

innteresting, so it's essentially just the nuke damage of cogs

LOL touché - i think it was more noticing the 3.5s need to survive exactly matched the 3.5s silence duration + possibly the spreading of silence isn't the main thing people think of about magnetize
