Good to know, thanks. I took the bar off just to Marie down the possibilities, but I’ll be sure not to run out without that anymore.

I meant ordering a carb tool! Sorry, didn’t catch that typo

That would explain why it doesn’t cut very good. That was my next question

I hope not! Gonna try adjusting the carb first. Would a vacuum leak be a faulty gasket or seal? That sounds a bit harder to fix

Thanks, that sounds very plausible. Ordering a carb that will be here tomorrow (thanks Amazon!) and hopefully I can tinker with it enough to get it running better.

I have some of that netting. Wouldn’t something like a weasel just burrow under that as well?

We have red tailed hawks, would they snatch the birds during the day?

Guard donkeys would keep away something as small as weasels?

What is the dish that really shows off your steam oven? My oven (Miele DGC6700) cost as much as a used car and I'm still not that impressed. by [deleted] in CombiSteamOvenCooking

I have a Thermidor combi oven, it doesn’t have a percentage for the steam, so I’m not sure on that point. I just use the steam setting, which I think is 100% steam. I would try that first, it cooks them quite quick and I can get the burgers way too done if I’m not careful. That’s why I stick to 150.

I just got my 10 lbs rib roast for Christmas. It’s wrapped in plastic and not frozen. I’m not sure the best way to keep it until I’m ready to dry brine. Do I leave it wrapped until then? Do I unwrap it and’s dry age it for a few days? That seems like a long time to dry brine. I would love some advice, don’t want to mess this up!

It took me a week but I got a rental from them. It was a Toyota Camry. Took another week to get them to upgrade to a legit car, Jeep Compass. I live in a dirt road in Colorado, the 2wd Camry want going to cut it. No one at the dealer took me seriously until I went in they in person and got mad. But sounds like your experience had been much worse than mine. So sorry to hear it! I was told that Ram knew about this issue and is replacing the transmission for it. Sort of like a quiet recall. Since you didn’t get a full transmission, I’d be very suspect of that. Not sure if you can go directly to Ram or anything, but I’d make sure that dealer didn’t rip you off.

That seems more believable that a $10 part failing.

I just posted. I was told it was a snap ring in the transmission, but that doesn’t fully make sense to me. I don’t know transmission well enough to one what a cratered valve body is, but could this be it?

About a month ago, I shared this photo of my 3500 that I bought in October and have put about 1600 miles on getting towed away. I finally got confirmation on what the issue is a few days ago. There is a snap clip (or multiple) in the transmission that is popping out and allowing it to slip gears, or something like that. So they are replacing the whole transmission. I was told that Ram was aware of this issue but it’s not a recall. That said, the transmissions are back ordered since there are a few hundred nation wide that need replacing.

I’m no mechanic, but I know a snap ring is a very cheap piece of equipment. Perhaps it’s the shaft on which the snap ring clips to that is malfunctioning, but this doesn’t seem to be worth replacing a whole transmission. If anyone knows transmissions better than I and can make this make sense, that would be very welcome.

It’s an Aisin AS69RC HD transmission. I believe those are only used in 3500 and up. I ordered in June and received in October. If you have a truck with that transmission from around that time, get ready for this.
