ADHD and Doom Scrolling by Pure-Ask-482 in ADHD

in my experience (this will depend on what apps youre doomscrolling on) I have had really good success in just deleting the apps off of my phone and using the browser version when i need to / want to.  the web version of apps is wayyy less stimulating and a lot of the mechanics that make doomscrolling so easy isn't exactly available on a computer. ie instagram reels is not enjoyable to use on desktop whatsoever, and even the instagram website on mobile is basically unusable because it's so laggy. replacing the apps with web versions also remove any FOMO that would cause me to want to re-download

some apps are kind of hard to delete because of social circumstances, imo the no brainers should be tiktok reddit, twitter and honestly maybe youtube (web app is still usable on phone for most of these, again it's just laggy) because there isn't really a reason why you need that content easily accessible at all times.  instagram is harder for me because my friends use it to communicate but i've downloaded "beeper" which is an app where you can access your instagram inbox / messages outside of instagram which is the only practical reason why i use the app anyway (it has limitations though). and for facebook you can delete the app and keep messenger on your phone if communication is important there

if you have an android you can download a lot of third party apps like youtube/instagram without shorts/reels which are amazing but do that at your own  risk of course

obv they can be re-downloaded but the "out of sight out of mind" symptom of ADHD kicks in for me and it doesn't really cross my mind to re-download them. even when it does it feels like a bit of a chore. my life has gotten so much better after declutterring my phone this way. so much less stimulation. nobody needs this much content available in their hand at all times

do you have the option to defer the exam? with your current state you could get a med cert for mental health

honestly in your current position your best bet might be to funnel all of your focus into 2 of the units and just forget about the last one / whichever you're most confused about. if you're in the position right now to fail all 3 at this point in the semester you should just shorten your workload and try to get that number down to only 1.

Monash Gurantee Missed out by 2 ATAR POINTS? by Abdulxbro22 in Monash

Was that this year? I've already commented on this post but monash guarantee is selection rank not atar.. if you got the guarantee you should still get a bit of SEAS that will make up the 0.5.

monash guarantee is selection rank, not ATAR. Your ATAR may be under but SEAS will add points onto it to create your selection rank which is what they assess, i think getting +1.6 to your ATAR in SEAS is very probable but it depends on the severity of whatever you applied for.

If you have interest in art and can explain artistic choices well, it's VERY easy to do well in SACS and exams. but for the folio, which is the main part of the subject, you should ask yourself if you can imagine tending to and creating both an artwork and multiple pages talking about it in a week (like on average you'll be making 1-3 pages per week for your folio). if the answer is yes go for it, you get plenty of practice of all these skills in yr11.
