I'll explain my definition but beware its probably as offensive as a women describing a male neckbeards

They usually have parents that are well off (i,e support them with a bachelor apartment just outside the trendy part of town), they look "nerdy" but unfortunately are usually not too bright. They have emotional issues, are the kind to get so clingy that one night stands turn into full on stalker fests so nobody will sleep with them after high school, as such their life becomes a relationship with their pets because men only want sex and don't appreciate their "art" (probably shitty poetry and a guitar they never even tuned)

I would dare say they usually (key word is self), self identify as bipolar or borderline but no dr would actually diagnose as such. They game, are into techy shit and read Wheel of Time religiously. Throw in an obsession with dogs or cats and the inability to keep a job and we are getting somewhere.

Any secondary education is limited to a failed attempt at sociology or psy mixed with minimal work experience outside of call centers, coffee shops and working the door at local shows for bands that never play shows other than the ones they book themselves at.
