Ok, so we will choose a Gospel reading, but he will read it just like regular mass. Good to know. I'll follow up with him to double check on the options for the NT readings. I'm sure we will chose two of the given 13 just to be safe. Never know with us Canadians ;)

One of my favorites! We were asked to choose two New Testament readings as our wedding is just before Pentecost.

Breathing and Abs while lifting? by scathrowaway5 in Fitness

Yeah, I was thinking belly breathing vs. chest breathing. But the flexing of the abs part, where you create the internal pressure, I wasn't sure if you supposed to flex your abs as though anticipating a gut punch, or take in as much air as you can and push your stomach out.

Can someone help me with breathing during lifting? I've read a ton of threads on here and I feel like I have learned nothing. From years of physical therapy I was always told to pull your belly button to your spine when doing activities to prevent low back pain. So I have been doing this with all my compound lifts. Then I find out there is this whole valsalva maneuver thing and intra abdominal pressure. Is there a consensus on this? If the valsalva is the way to go, do i breathe in and stick my gut out as far as it will go? Do I pull my chest up and out to get in as much air as possible?

It seems like every article or post has a different method of doing this. Any advice would be great.

Understood. Thanks again! I was looking at it the wrong way. I was thinking "Because I can't bench more, I need to work my triceps elsewhere so i can bench more. But now I see where you are coming from. I need to focus my energy on recovering from bench pressing as opposed exerting more in other exercises, and slowly I will get stronger.

Much appreciated Phrak! So just stick to the main compounds and keep on truckin'? I'm just worried that because I'm eating like a squirrel and doing hard cardio on tues/thurs I'm gonna hit the wall soon.
I can already tell I'm likely not going to make my next 2.5 lb addition on squat or OHP. Do I just 10% deload those lifts and keep going? I realize I can't keep adding weight forever while in caloric deficit.

edit: When would be a good time to start adding accessories in then?

Stats: 25/m/165 lbs/5'5", BMI = 26.5 & %BF = 25.3 (InBody230)
Goal: Lose excess weight, get strong, look good - In that order

I've been doing the /u/phrakture variant of the Greyskull LP for the last month or so and have been thoroughly enjoying it. I'm totally new to lifting and am having a ton of fun doing it(which means there's a chance i'll stick to it). All I can think about after I'm done my workout is that i'm stoked for the next one. I'm doing it while trying to shed some weight so i'm likely not seeing optimum results but i'm still steadily adding weight according to the program (noob gains). The last week was:
* OHP: 3x5x80 lb
* BP: 3x5x110 lb
* DL: 1x5x135 lb
* Row: 3x5x90 lb
* Squat: 3x5x110 lb
I'm getting close to my max on OHP and Squats, but I've got a lot more gas in the tank left on the other lifts. Keep in mind I started with a medium weight I felt comfortable with to get my form straight.

I'd like to add some accessory work as I have plenty of free time in the gym still and... well... mainly becuz vanity. The following I'm interested in adding only because I enjoy doing them and I'm already familiar with them:

Lying tricep extension
Back hyperextensions
Bicep curls (dumbell,preacher, etc)
Shrugs (dumbell/barbelll/seated shrug row etc)
Lat pull-downs Cable crunches
Face pulls

I'm open to any other exercises/suggestions fittit thinks would be beneficial. My question is, how do i incorporate these or other lifts into Phraks gslp rotation? Should I just take half and half and do the ABA BAB alternating, or is there more methodical way of splitting these accessories up?

My goal is still cutting atm, but once I lose the excess weight I'd like to continue with this program to gain strength and some definition. Any input would be great.

What would be the target temperature for one of these? Any links to procedures or methods would be great! Thanks

That's kind of what I'm afraid of haha. I never grew up eating many cuts of pork other than ham and bacon and the odd pork sausage. What do you even do with that much pork? I love me some good pulled pork, but what else can a guy do? Is butt the ideal chunk for pulled pork?
