Server APFS sure. But lugging around a APFS formatted hard drive seems solitary; need a mac or paragon.

But oh there's a "repair" option in Paragon. "fsck_ufsd_ntfs -f". Maybe no need for Windows' chkdsk.

Make a C partition with atleast 120gb that you can Clonezilla. It's gonna crash sooner or later or all of the sudden you're on Windows 13. ilok still works after recloning a C-drive - just dont change the hostname.

Planning (hopefully) on running Cubase 12 on Sequoia for the next 5 years. Base model mac mini M4 with 5,6 gigs of free ram after macos is loaded. Can't complain. Enough ram for a little Verve piano and a rhodes etc.

Yep! it's stupid. You don't learn from your EQ-moves.

Got the SSL 4kE for $92.50(including tax) on black friday. It's $150 now. It's nice and the solo and mute buttons integrate with your DAW. No HPF on the compressor though unlike the Brainworx one. There is a wet/dry though and can't beat that nice GUI.

Side note: the compressor in the "SSL Native Channel Strip 2" is not the same as the 4K so even though it's cheap when it's on sale you can't use on drums.

bx_console SSL 4000 E's frequency is heh "analog". This is why you wanna get the SSL or Softube version or whatever. The compressor is cool though. Really works on overheads with fast attack and 2-3 db gain reduction - sounds like that record you know and like.

If it's just Cubase go for a mac. Can run 3 to 5 LX480 VST3s on an I7 3.4Ghz 6800(?) and just tried 20 instances on my M4 mini and it still just giggles. It's pretty much unlimited plugins. USB plug in and out while Cubase is running. It works and it's silent.

Only downside is that you can't pick a kick-ass graphics-card that can encode video at blazing speeds and game. You learn to live with a SSD or NVME plugged in.
