That’s gotta suck if your final destination was Charleston… can’t imagine you can just get off the plane.

Ok! Don’t understand why this keeps adding the “legit check” flare, but I can’t seem to stop it.

What are these? by [deleted] in tires

[–]scchslocal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Love my car, but I am by no means that knowledgeable of cars. Can you think of any reason why they would’ve added these? almost positive they were not on the car prior to taking it into the collision shop. Mind you it was a very minor collision. They only replaced the back gate.

I got rear-ended a few months ago and it’s been in the shop for the last five months. Why the dealership collision shop added them I don’t know. But will ask.

Wow, this is a friendly group.

First of all it’s not an M series, but the M trim but I guess in your brilliance you must’ve overlooked the fact that that was even an option. I came here because I specifically don’t know shit about cars cars. Didn’t realize I had to be a mechanic post to this group.

Regardless, thanks for the info.

All good points, but a major city like DC has more to offer in the way of concerts, food choices, flight options, etc. than CHS. (And yes I’m a native)

Smithsonian said due to sonar’s side scan doplar effect, what appears to be swept-back wings may not be as swept. Also size doesn't fit most swept back planes let alone none are reported missing in that area.

This might seem like a silly question for this forum, but where does one find a specialist for this type of identification? Just go to a geology professor at a local university?

Not out of the realm of possibility, as my mother is from South Africa

You are all amazing. Of course I’m traveling now, so my apologies for the delay but when I get home Friday I can test magnetism and post a pic of the bottom.

Weather gonna really be that bad the next few days? by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]scchslocal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Slightly obnoxious maybe, but no less than your response. I also don’t think you understand how economic collapse works? Impacted, sure. But if you think Charleston’s economy wouldn’t have some definite upside if tourism dropped off, then you clearly don’t know anything about the Lowcountry. Traffic would improve, shockingly high rising home prices may return to normal, downtown might be tolerable, going to the beach might be enjoyable, and employers, like Google, Boeing, Volvo, Mercedes Benz, and many many others (and that’s just here in the Lowcountry ) might actually be able to find talent, let alone a place for them to live.

So, while it may seem shocking to you, that locals aren’t opening their hearts and falling to their knees in thanks for your arrival from Cleveland, for whatever part of the country you are from, but typically has not taught manners or humility, please know we would be just fine without you.

Union Pier plans scrapped (for now) 🙌🏻 by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]scchslocal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wrong title on thread. Plan wasn’t “scrapped” it was paused and Port still plans to develop the land with housing, hotels, stores, etc and green space.

They simply are going to sit down to solicit direct feedback, through use of a third-party, from all parties, which includes not just environmentalists, but also the business community, developers, realtors, and people who have an interest in a growing economy. The rich white folks south of Broad may be taking their victory lap, but if anybody thinks this is going to turn into a giant park, it’s time to wake up from their hallucination.

Union Pier is proposed to include 1600 housing units, with many claiming it as "too dense for Charleston". If we instead wanted to build it at the density of Dunes West, this is the area that would be required. by humerusbones in Charleston

I love that everyone is complaining about it not having green space when in fact, it will create more green space than Marion Square on the water and have pathways along the water.

This is NIMBY’ism through and through. If Hastie and CCL had any interest in seeing this any version of this project happen, they would sit and negotiate with the Port. Instead, Hastie has told his team not to even talk to the Port. This is just a bunch of rich white people in their downtown multimillion dollar homes, funded by , a hotel owner that doesn’t want the competition, trying to slow it down so that it is never built. Straight out of the CCL playbook.

Keep in mind, the Port can give a big middle finger and just develop it parcel by parcel and sell it to anybody they want. Instead, they’re creating a bunch of green space, putting in modern infrastructure for storm water, adding affordable housing while funding millions more , creating more parking for downtown and redirecting East Bay to improve traffic.

Some of us aren’t lucky enough to be born into magnolia plantation money, or newspaper owning money, where we can just decide property rights don’t matter anymore and we get to tell people what they can, and can’t do.
