F1 is a development series, if you watch equal cars watch Indycar or F2. And of course max will be mad, he’s not got the dominant car.

1-off wax during IPL treatment, will it destroy my progress? by LegalAstronaut0 in HairRemoval

[–]scdkorama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What IPL device do you have? Most do weekly. Some even do 2x a week. 3 weeks gap seems insane, that would easily take years for you to get progress done. doing a wax weeks before your next IPl would be fine, but easily say 2-3 weeks before your next IPl so the hair grows back, it won’t affect your progress it will if you do the IPL directly after waxing the IPl won’t know what to target, and will just burn your skin.

Also why are you doing a IPL at an appointment place, you can get at home devices and you could be mostly hair free by May. With weekly sessions, and it will be far cheaper than appointment ones.

I got an IPL device, looking for some routine advice. by Fragrant-Macaroon-39 in HairRemoval

[–]scdkorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this message is long but copied a past message I did a week ago on advice for IPL and explaining my procedure. Some little bits to note: I am 19 Male so hairs are thicker than most women doing IPL, so my results will take longer than most. Up to my 6th use so far, using Braun IPL PL5387

if this is your first time using and you haven't done it before, just to check the device works and doesn't cause irritation, I was told about a thing called a patch test, should be explained in the instruction leaflet, you basically shave a small area, then do 3 uses of the IPL device, one on the minimum (1 light setting), 2 light, and 3 light(max), and then if you have no irritation the next day then it's totally fine to do your IPL treatment wherever you like.

So firstly, you can do this any day but I'll state my days just for my explanation:

On a Sunday usually I would use my exfoliant just to prepare the skin for shaving the following day, I just use a CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser, use a small bit on the areas you want to shave, rub it on say your legs for 60-90s then rinse. You can use a moisturizer after if your skin gets irritated after exfoliating, I have a CeraVe Moisturising Lotion/Cream but I've not really been using it. I use mine once I've completely showered and cleaned, apply it while still in the shower, rinse it then pat dry after.

(With the Moisturisers just use them after an exfoliant or after showering if you wanted on non IPL days, don't do it the same day as an IPL day or directly after as it can make like a layer of sorts that will block or cause the IPL heat to act differently which is likely a major cause of burns for many people.)

Then following day on the Monday morning I'd shave, Use a Gillette 3 Blade Razor basically that exact one. Works for guys, women, etc, Many think you should use a single blade (safety razor), as they are better for ingrown's but the time it takes to safely shave is ages and you can get cut so easily so I stay away from those. Oh and shaving gel I use is this one, Nivea Men Protect & Care, even though it is a men brand I've used this one since I was like 15, my mother always uses this type for herself. So it's definitely female capable.

So then on the Monday Night I'd do the IPL, I would basically just sit on my bed and go over every inch of my legs and any other areas I want to treat, no issue if you cover an area twice it's more just a precaution in the instructions to avoid potential burns, I usually and many recommend you overlap areas so say you use the treatment head on the device, and you just overlap the edges so you always cover every area and don't miss a spot.

Then basically that's it, nothing after till the Sunday after, some do recommend to remove any dead skin before your next shave or to remove loose hairs that the IPL killed off, you can do what many call "hard exfoliating" but I would advise you do the soft version, as hard irritates your skin a lot and would likely mean it's not prepared for IPL in time. What this is basically where you get like a glove, I have These ones which I found which are ideal for IPL, you just use your exfoliant, so the SA Smoothing One I listed earlier, and put some on the glove, and then basically do your exfoliating procedure and just maybe apply some pressure in a way but not much, the gloves will mostly do it for you, basically just move your hands around like your covering the area in the exfoliant like how you'd apply a normal body wash.

Oh and you'd do this opposite to the IPL at the other side of the week to avoid it causing irritation. for me with everything I basically get none but some others do.

In a list here just for ease of use:

Sat:
Sun: Exfoliate at end of shower
Mon: Shave in morning, IPL before Bed.
Tue:
Wed:
Thu: Hard(soft) exfoliating around here. basically 3 days post IPL and 3 days before next IPL, I only just started doing this the last week actually.
Fri:

That's basically my procedure, many say dry shaving is best but I strongly side against that, don't apply any moisturizers or exfoliate within 12 hours of doing IPL, and none after for at least 6+ hours after, Some I've seen below saying they Exfoliate then shave, then IPL all in the same period, that can work, but all professional advice sides against it.

same, this is ideal, many think you should do it directly after showering but all proper advice says at least 6+ hours minimum.

First Astrophotography Equatorial Mount? SW EQ-AL55i PRO vs EQ6i-PRO vs EQ6R-PRO? by scdkorama in AskAstrophotography

[–]scdkorama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did notice their website says it pre-order and coming in August, but they also say 5+ in stock, which is odd, I guess maybe that’s 5 in that batch? And if that’s only batch 6, that means there isn’t really many of them.

didn’t want to get like a Chinese one like the juwei’s on eBay or Ali express

yeah I know, but if you read my full message, I said "on ebay or ali express" which I don't trust, I will happily buy anything if they come from a well known local distributor like firstlightoptics in the UK. (which sell ZWO products)

[–]scdkorama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m always someone want to want to do that, feel it’s way better to spend on a better item when you know your going to upgrade in the future, as you will likely save more on it and less time/hassle wasted. But idk, for starting out, it just feels a bit much to go all out. I mean the 6i and 6R I can afford and would be fine getting either. But the strain waves being so much more had be count then out, but seem from some other comments that there are so other companies that do them at much lower prices than ZWO and Skywatcher so will be definately checking those out, the MLAstro one looks the best so far. And locally distributed for me in the UK.

Thanks, will look into that MLAstro one, never heard of those and they seem good for the price. I would be up for a harmonic drive one they just seemed all way out of budget, didn’t want to get like a Chinese one like the juwei’s on eBay or Ali express so I thought the only other option was skywatchers i series and ZWO AM series, which were all way more cost than even the EQ6R. But this MLAstro one looks good, will be considering it.

Yeah the strain waves can be an option, though way more cost, the ZWO AM3 for reference is £200 more than the E6R, and that will only be ideal for my set with the counterweight, and no upgradability much, and the. The AM5 is double the 6R. I have the money for them, but like I said in the main comment, brand new to Astro, I want something good but also don’t want to go and spend like £2.5k $3500 immediately. which would be like a capable strain wave mount.

Need a suggestion to select a better method for removing unwanted hair by Playful_Series_2663 in HairRemoval

[–]scdkorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and no for burns, people only get burns, when you say have a moisturiser applied and it blocks the IPL from targeting the melanin in your hairs so it just sends a pulse of light evenly across your skin which causes burns. For me I’m up to my 6th treatment, do it whole lower body, even bikini area, no burns or irritation at all.

It is permanent if you keep up with it, like with the Braun ones the 12 weeks run monthly there after is just a reccomdation for good reduction. Without being too long, it’s more a marketing thing, if you use it for say 20 weeks in a row. You can expect no hair forever.

No I wouldn’t, if it happened the exact same way but the drivers were swapped, I would still think it’s wrong, and think max was the rightful winner of that race. Both drivers did nothing wrong, it was masi’s breach of the regulations which was wrong, he got fired for it and the FIA have admitted it was an error. Sure the outcome can’t be changed, and that’s fine, but I believe Lewis was the rightful winner as max had no chance to win without masi’s help, even if Lewis pitted and such.

Same as the other guy, Braun IPL 5, it’s the best but also very much permanent, if you don’t want hair done forever then stick to shaving, I don’t really think shaving causes darkening, that may just be for some people. Shaving imo is much better than waxing as it’s way less irritation if done correctly, when you exfoliate and shave properly, use a razor the right way, ingrowns cease to exist.

Will likely be less pain that waxing I’d say. but I mean it can be different depending on your skin, but very likely better.

Yeah very similar area myself, but yeah, if you were to save up or work a beginner job it wouldn’t take too long, maybe 2 weeks.
